For $50, they’re a ripper shoe. An appropriate price too, considering they come from sweatshop labour. Rocky, Stuart Little, Marty McFly and Patrick Star wear them, so why can’t I? Why can’t we all? Here’s why: “Although Chuck Taylors are, along with Dr. Martens, still closely associated with punk fashion, punks have been the target of criticism for wearing a shoe that is ultimately manufactured by Nike, a capitalist corporation that is widely known to produce their shoes in third-world sweatshops. Because of Nike’s practices, wearing Converse shoes is at odds with punk’s general association with left-wing politics, particularly anarchism and some forms of revolutionary socialism. This criticism has also come from within, from punks such as Mitch Clem. Many punks now wear sweatshop-free imitations, such as those made by the Blackspot Anticorporation or No Sweat Apparel, so as to avoid such an ideological conflict.” Source Date Picture Taken: 13/12/2006 / Camera: Canon EOS 350D / Lens: Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM

In the mid-seventies, I accepted a transfer to a school where I had the most difficulties, regarding what might be called a personality-clash. The fact that, when one of the classes put on a play, in which they imitated the teachers (In my case, me teaching dancing), they had a girl being me, in brown, seems to reflect the whole experience. / (I lent her my glasses for this picture.)

I am very flattered that there are people who like my work and want to have a go at re-editing the image, however, please leave my work alone, ok? I have already edited and ‘shopped it to the point where I think it makes a good image. I won’t be sending my original pictures for anyone to edit. My art is my art, your art is your art… though I will happily collaborate with anyone on a brand new piece. :)
