  • Ink, some graphite and charcoal on paper. Robert Johnson was truly the grandfather of blues. Inspiring such musicians as Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters and the Rolling Stones. His music has deeply affected my love for blues and music in general. My portrait of Robert is a small tribute to the amazing body of work he produced. Through every layer of pencil and every stroke of my hand, I tried to capture the essence of Mr. Johnson onto paper. I depicted every detail in my portrait, from the old curtain hung behind him to the design on the blanket he sits on. Each pinstripe was painstakingly reproduced as well as the weathering on his guitar. My desired end result is that you will feel like you are looking at an aged photo of Robert Johnson. I believe when you truly study this piece you will hear his music and see the richness of his character portrayed in through my pencils. • Is she saying hello or saying goodbye? This gorgeous blue eyed beauty has a well-crafted paper aeroplane circling her. Whether it’s about to land or about to take-off is anyone’s guess. This piece reminds me of all those teary airport hellos and farewells of my 20s! ..................♥ the fine print ♥…............... • Ella is a sultry little vixen deciding which heart to grab next. I adore her magnificent striped dress and gigantic fluttery eyelashes – who could resist! If Ella look familiar, it may be because she was recently chosen to appear on Avant Cards distributed around Australia ..................♥ the fine print ♥…............... • Can happen to many office people, that you wish it was already five pm, killing the time with the tools available on your desktop. Best demonstrated in the opening scene of the movie About Schmidt, where Jack Nicholson plays a man waiting till its five, after that moment he is retired and not coming back in the office for work anymore. In my zazzle shop you can find the same design showed on different models, colours and the backside printed with logo and instruction. Plus they print larger and their quality of printing is very good! And some others…

  • Nothin’ but pencil! This shirt is partly an experiment to see if I can make one image work on black AND white simultaneously. I think I failed.

  • This reads Magpie in Chinese. The Japanese is below that but less visible. • Sure, the bird was interesting, but he really should have paid more attention to what was coming up behind him. Unfortunately for Willie “The Birdman” Whiters, it would be the last mistake he would ever make. I just finished this one up last night. Overall, I’m fairly pleased with it.

  • This is for my sister Michelle’s birthday. She’s overseas in London at the moment, so it doesn’t matter that I’m a day late on this because it’s still her birthday over there :D Ink, gouache, pencils and watercolour on craft card / This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-No Derivative Works 2.5 Australia License

  • Illustration of a ginger tabby cat curled up cosily in a coffee or tea cup. Distinctly imaginative and perfect for lovers of all things feline, or related to coffee or tea cups!

  • Inspired by an old ink print I saw in a book when I was a Child. / The print I remember had this big spooky figure of a man looming in the doorway and had this wicked dark atmosphere to it. / I dont think my version really compared tho, as i only got to get a glimpse at the book (it was in an old op shop and i didnt have any money ever as a child,) so, I had to go by memory, and with not wanting to copy theirs, I came up with this instead :) / Originally drawn in 1992, then redrawn back in 1997. / this is the redone version of 97. / -which is why there is a tea stain and the paper is rumpled :) / ...but i like to think it adds to the overall effect :) / Drawn on normal printing paper, just old and rumpled and torn and sunbleached like crazy :) All work (including images, and writings) copyright dimarie painter / / Click here for work details and credits if any apply… / Click on any category above for that genre… or / Click here to go back to my profile page ... thanx :)

  • Ascension is about love and its power. Anahata is the chakra located in the heart region. iI has 12 petals and it is connected to the capacity of loving deeply and also to the feelings of compassion and empathy. It is generally depicted in the color green, but in my mind it appeared in luminous yellow with hints of red. It is through the anahata chakra that we can contact universal love. It is the main point of contact to the so-called “inner Christ” and the upper planes. Other symbols I used to represent the same concept are the water, running upward in a straight blue stripe across the picture, and the fish. The fish is connected to the Pisces sign and also to the primitive Christianity message. Both symbols are related to universal love and compassion. The skull means that loves transcends even death, and leads to a deep transformation. It also has the meaning of the XIII arcane, Death – things that die to give place to other ones, a deeply alchemical experience. The upper figure is representative of a state of ecstasy and bliss conduced by deeply spiritual experiences. When we are able to achieve a full state of love, even for brief moments, we feel like we are connected to something bigger and higher. Experiencing love is also a totally libertarian thing, which I wanted to show through the hawk with open wings emerging from all the violet at the top. It’s only through love that we can transcend our material condition and achieve perfect happiness and fulfillment.

  • Illustration by May Ann Licudine

  • ACEO / miniature art of a beautiful Tabby called Neska, with amber eyes, done with coloured pencils and ink on drafting film. Neska’s eyes are actually green in colour but I wanted to add to my series of artwork featuring cat’s eyes ( Emerald Eyes, Sapphire Eyes and Turquoise Eyes). There is such diversity in the colours that cat’s eyes come in and I never tire of admiring the beauty of their eyes. Reference photo for this artwork was taken by Ainhoa Pcb http://www.flickr.com/photos/ainhoap/455734885/ and was used with her kind permission.

  • I’ve always loved nature and was a big fan of the BugCatcher toy – naturally, I always let my little friends go at the end of the day. This little lady, in her vintage lace skirt, has enlisted the help of a glow worm to make an old fashioned lamp.

  • I’ve zeroed the white as its going on a tshirt so it looks good in any colour. Original here / Detail shots / Add theyellowfury to your watchlist Copyright © 2009 Simon Deevy.
