As promised – the new illustration on t-shirt. Works nicely don’t you think? Wear it with pride and spread the word of environmental awareness – or just pretend you are a bad-ass with a penchant for skulls…

Shade and honey I could look in your face for a thousand years / it’s like a civil war of pain and of cheer / but if you were a horse / I could help you with your chains / I could ride you through the fields / by your fiery mane May your shade be sweet / and float upon the lakes / where the sun will be / made of honey

Ever get the feeling that everyone’s staring at you when you get on that bus to work every morning? Well, I did (before I shed the shackles of the day job and became a freelancer at least!) and that’s what inspired this painting – commuters on the top deck, always curious to see who’s entering their domain.
This one, painted some time early last year (2007) was inspired by my wife. She suggested that a poem she likes, by William Henry Davies, would be a good subject for a painting. The extract of the poem on the painting it’s self reads… “What is life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare … / No time to stand beneath the boughs, and stare as long as sheep or cows. / No time to see, when woods we pass, where squirrels hide their nuts in grass. / A poor life this, if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare.”

Digital Fine Art in oil painting style, by Maria Szollosi aka MARISKA September / 2009. COLLABORATE ARTWORK Please view large. This image was inspired by the very talented artist ANAISNAIS poem ’’Ode to a rose”’’. / Thank you dear Anna-Marie to let me share your wonderful poem here.:0)) xoxox ODE TO A ROSE ON SUNSET / by Anaisnais A kiss from a rose on a sunset night, / As the clouds dip into the sea. / A kiss from that rose as the waves fall, / Over the beach to a rose kissed me. A kiss from a rose on a sunset night, / As we wrap into lovers embrace. / A kiss from that rose as homeward we go, / To a bed clothed in satin and lace. A kiss from a rose on a sunset night, / With passion and warmth do we grasp. / A kiss from that rose that blossoms and blooms, / My hand in her labour pain clasp. A kiss from a rose on a sunset night, / That wanton and curvy young bride. / A kiss from that rose that huddles our babe, / So loving, in motherly pride. A kiss from a rose on a sunset night, / Without whom I’d not shared my life. / A kiss from that rose who selflessly filled, / The place of my darling rose wife! anaisnais© More illustrations of this work : All Origional art work can be purchased through the artist. —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-——- Copyright notice: / All rights reserved. Sixth artwork in my new Wonderland series, based off of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” ”`Well!’ thought Alice to herself, `after such a fall as this, I shall think nothing of tumbling down stairs! How brave they’ll all think me at home! Why, I wouldn’t say anything about it, even if I fell off the top of the house!’ (Which was very likely true.) – “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” Original artwork measures approx. 12.5×19” and was created with oil pastels, colored pencils, metaliic silver pens, and marker. This is a scan of the image, so you can’t see the silver highlights on this piece (they look gray in the scan) through Alice’s hair and dress. View more of my artwork at www.lynnetteshelley.com
