This is an illustration I did of my favorite musician, Chino Moreno. If you don’t know him. He’s the lead singer of the band Deftones. I didn’t have any reason to do this except as a kind of tribute to a person I admire. I left out some of his tattoos. This was done very quickly so there wasn’t much attention to detail. It’s a fairly simple image. I added the red water as more of an experiment. I wanted another elements in the image, but I never got around to it..

Weary Ant has gone to bed, and Grasshopper plays for the moon. / ... / Inspired by Aesop’s fable about the Ant and the Grasshopper, although I prefer the happy ending where Ant shares his food with Grasshopper, and Grasshopper plays for the ant colony every night in return.

Robert Johnson was truly the grandfather of blues. Inspiring such musicians as Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters and the Rolling Stones. His music has deeply affected my love for blues and music in general. My portrait of Robert is a small tribute to the amazing body of work he produced. Through every layer of pencil and every stroke of my hand, I tried to capture the essence of Mr. Johnson onto paper. I depicted every detail in my portrait, from the old curtain hung behind him to the design on the blanket he sits on. Each pinstripe was painstakingly reproduced as well as the weathering on his guitar. My desired end result is that you will feel like you are looking at an aged photo of Robert Johnson. I believe when you truly study this piece you will hear his music and see the richness of his character portrayed in through my pencils. Since music is such an important part of my life, I decided to make a drawing dedicated to this love. Sadly, I cannot play an instrument myself, but I just love listening to music, as it can make me so happy, or make me feel inspired, or just as something to listen to when I feel sad. This drawing is also inspired by my youngest sister, who recently started to learn how to play the guitar. =) Ink on paper, texture added in Photoshop. I also have a T-shirt of this available here /
