When my daughter was a small child, she said to me as we left the house and made our way down the side walk. “I want bock bock shoes, just like mommy.” I was nonplused for a minute, and then it occurred to me, that was the sound of my ex-wife’s high heeled shoes walking up the side walk. Since that time I have considered how children communicate their needs and wants in ways that make us look at the world in an entirely new way.
