For some reason when the scene first presented itself I thought of the Song “Ventura Highway” by America, one of my all-time favourites. The weirdness off and beauty off this son is something I like to capture in my photographs. Please also visit my photoblog . Cheers Alex

Proceeds from sales of this image go to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal – donations in turned matched by Redbubble A brief stop on the way to Minnamurra Falls in the Budderoo National Park (about 15 mks inland from Kiama on the South Coast of NSW – Australia) yielded this very unusual scene – with cool rain and mist following on from the 40 degree days previously, it was almost like being suddenly transported to England! / acrylics painting on canvas 120×60cm – please view large / ... quite difficult to make a good photo from this one because the metallic paint shows very dark around edges … but I am impatient and I wanted to upload it, hoping for some feedback …... please ….... ? ..... this theme I wanted to do for a long time and so being asked to: “make something for the bedroom” ... for my husbands colleague & her husband …. I thought of this … / ..... will see …. / ...recently I had been fascinated by discovery of Arvo Part’s music and philosophy and also by some texts on ‘sound’ and our perception of it from writings of John O’Donohue …... so those are the sources ….. I also love listening to my daughter practicing her pieces every day (yes almost everyday) ...she is a very good player and ever since she first started she always made sure to produce the best sound possible..so there never was a time of some “painful” noise ….... the fact that it is a practice makes the music very “present’.... I myself do not play any instrument so I have a lot of admiration for anyone who does ….....

The end of another day at Lake Illawarra. The pelican was a lucky inclusion, though he did hang around longenough to get a few shots taken.
