Aaaaah! Finally standing after hitting snooze a dozen times… only cold water to the face is going to wake you up enough to be able to safely walk down the stairs to the kitchen….that is right Mr.Stickman….it is time to rise and shine!! This was an experiment with light painting during the day. I always paint at night and I had been trying very hard to think of a way to do it during the day. Sure I could stack a bunch of ND filters but they are not cheap….This was taken around noon. It was fairly dark and rainy outside which helped a lot. Unfortunately there is some nasty ghosting of me in this image…..

I was just chillin’ at home when this burglar entered my house…good thing my house is completely empty. Straight out of the camera. taken with a canon 400D. the red lights in the back are LEDs and the blue ‘ribbon’ is done with a rewired cold cathode. A blue gelled flash fired at 1/2 lit the subject. The red bird logo is also done in camera. It is done with a stencil and a flash.

I found this freak inside some old abandoned house…. Actually, it is my good friend Phill who helps me with my pictures. Poor guy always gets stuck posing in them. We did this shoot in an old abandoned house located in Japan. Info: Shot with a Canon 400D. This picture is straight from the camera with no editing or post processing. The lighting was done with LEDs, cathodes, and gelled flashes. The ‘fiz-iks’ logo was done with a flash and a stencil.

Part of a project I did in Tokyo where we found complete strangers and got them involved in light painting. We met this guy in Harajuku. He was really proud of his American car which was a ‘78 Monte Carlo jacked on hydraulics. The color lights in the back were done by hand by his ‘crew’. Info: Shot with a Canon 400D through a 17-85mm lens. The lights in the back are LEDs and cathodes. The ‘fiz-iks’ logo is also light and is done with a soft box, a stencil, and a flash. Don’t you just hate it when thugs teleport themselves into your house….yeah, me too. After building a prototype in early summer I finally built and was able to experiment with the large version I had originally envisioned. Straight form the camera. Looks even better when its viewed larger. 3 blue flashes 1/4 fired to room manually. 1 purple gelled flash fired 1/8 to the back room manually. The room was pitch black. This was part of a collaboration project that spanned the Pacific from Japan to the US. An LA based designer, Darius Twin, provided the stencil graphics for this shot. My mate Phill modeled. The lighting was done with 1 green gelled SB-25 with gobo @ 1/2 from left of subject. The other lights are done by hand with LEDs and cold cathodes. We were experimenting with some new techniques and lights in this shoot. Darius Twin has sent some of his trademark friends to Japan for a visit. Fiz-iks crew greeted them and took his monkey to a shrine for a blessing. This was done at an art gallery called Art Garden in Okayama, Japan. An installation that was technically never installed. Performance art that was witnessed by no one so was it even performed? One could argue that neither ever took place. Good thing I was able to capture the evidence of its non-existence with my camera…. I had an opportunity to use the gallery space for some photos. Given the setting I wanted to create something that looked like a physical installation. This “structure” was drawn by me and my cohort and recorded by my camera. It is completely made of light and nothing else. It was gone the instant it was created. This image is straight from the camera. No photoshop was used nor any post editing of any kind was done. It was created using the light painting method. Numerous hand held flashes were strategically fired around the room to illuminate the space. The tones were achieved by adjusting the ‘picture style’ settings in camera. The writing on the wall and the ‘draft’ in the top were done with LEDs using the light painting method. Did you know that 1 ox can pull around 2 tons? Did you know that when working together 2 ox can pull 8 tons. Do the math…For me, this is the epitome of of the word ‘team’. Done at an art gallery in Okayama, Japan. None of the photography has been altered in any way but I must admit to removing a black scuff mark from the floor in the foreground with PS. Ever wonder just how hot hell’s kitchen really is? Me neither….but I bet it would resemble something like this… More fun with this technique. The logo on his shirt is light stencil popped at angle to match his pose. Converted from Canon’s sRAW with no editing. I was shooting for a stop motion film in the afternoon and had it set to ‘sRAW’ and forgot to reset the quality before I went shooting at night…oooops. Meet Jacked Rabbit. He, among others, is a recent acquaintance Crazy Horsehead Man. A mere human, at one point, who was lucky enough to meet with the Orb-acle. During the encounter the man was rash and hasty which angered The Orb-acle who in anger rained down fire turning him into a genetic freak rabbit man. “Consider this a favor, you impatient fool!” echoed through the hills as Jacked Rabbit ran for his life….
