Bradypodion pumilum – Western Cape, South Africa SEE HOW THEY GIVE BIRTH
From a little series called “Red Umbrella”.
Unimaginatively titled, but this is one of a pair that I love for their simplicity. They are both painted in sepia watercolour, an unforgiving medium which means that there is no possibility of hesitation.
b&w version per request / original: / This was taken on my parent’s back porch on a Friday evening. Fridays are “family night” and generally the kids play outside but it was raining so my niece was watching the rain fall. I said her name and when she looked I took this photo. So that’s the story behind the title. :)

The statue “Sound II” stands silently in the water in the crypt under the Ancient Normal Cathedral in Winchester U.K. The whole gigantic building sits on watery foundations! This part of the Cathedral dates back to 1079 and now stands well under the local water table, therfore is often flooded / This is a three exposure HDR ( long exposures, it is dark) -1, 0, +1 . Taken from my “gorillapod” off the bottom step before the water. /
Choice II is for those who love the light side of the spectrum. It takes on such a different feeling than the much darker original, The Choice / Love should never be a choice. While man attempts to recreate his universe through science, emulating God; at the core, each of us struggles with daily choices that eclipse logic. Are choices of the heart logical or divinely inspired, impetuous or practical, or do these rather define constraints of the mind? Should the heart always win over thought process, or does one inform the other? By our divine nature, women have a choice, to follow our heart, head, will, or spirit. Wrong or right, we exercise it. Abstract nude monochromatic bodyscape of shoulder, back and butt of female model
A collaboration with the amazing J-Chans Designs. This woman is amazingly talented. She designed the costume, the wig and did the makeup. And the incredibly gorgeous model is Elizabeth Maiden (Model Mayhem#401472) My first outdoor photo shoot in a long time at a very neat location. It’s an old building near an industrial park near my house which burned down a year or so ago. What’s left is a metal and concrete shell. It made for a great setting.
