TAKEN AS IS. This road is created by a machine called the Groomer. This road is created for snowmobiles to travel on, and not just for recreation. This particular road has to be kept up in the winter, it connects Pine, Idaho to Fall Creek, Idaho. There are many towns, and there are many in winter you can only reach by snowmobile. Idaho has over 7000 miles in the state of groomed snow roads. I love traveling these roads in the winter, especially to the towns hard to reach.

  • White T-Shirt only 100% of the prodeeds from this shirt go to Defenders of Wildlife to help stop the aerial gunning of wolves in Alaska, to push the PAW act through Congress, and to stop the removal of federal protections in states pushing for their removal: Idaho and Wyoming, with New Mexico already killing wolves under their 3 strikes rule. This is my understanding of the issue. ALASKA / Right now, the governor of Alaska, (SARAH PALIN) despite the dissent of a 66% majority of Alaska’s citizens, encourages and permits aerial gunning of wolves. The plan is eradication. Why? So big game hunters can have more moose and carribou to hunt, despite the fact that this kind of “management” is proven to be disastrous to moose and carribou populations. See the science. Stop the ugly killing. The citizens of Alaska don’t want it; Alaska’s hunters don’t want it. So who wants it? The big rich kid trophy hunters, that’s who, and they’re buying the government to get it. Support the PAW act. Get involved, and STOP THE KILLING. IDAHO, WYOMING, NEW MEXICO / Idaho’s new governor, Butch “The Butcher” Otter brags that he’ll buy the first ticket to kill a wolf. His aim? Kill every last wolf in the state. Stop The Butcher NOW. And Wyoming is right on Idaho’s heels, wanting federal protections removed, as does New Mexico. We just got them back, and now members of the legislatures and state houses in these states want to kill them all. STOP THE GUNNING. SUPPORT THE PAW ACT. All proceeds from the sale of this shirt and more go to Defenders of Wildlife

They are just beginning to finally arrive back into the state of Oregon from Idaho, and I hope it won’t be long before I can hear them howling at the moon from where I live here on the Oregon coast. The painting was done from a wonderful capture by Gary Kramer of the US Fish & Wildlife Service. It is a high-resolution public-domain image, and can be found at the link that I have provided below. / / ‘Canis Lupus Laying’ by Gary Kramer / http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Canis_lupus_laying.jpg / / It is difficult to see the painting over the internet, so I have provided a couple of detail cutaways below so you can better appreciate the painting. / / / / / /

  • One of my favorite types of horse, a pinto, captured in North Idaho. Shot this with my Kodak Easy Share camera, brought it into Photoshop, added a layer and desaturated it, then went in with a soft eraser tool and revealed just the subject I wanted colored. Merged all layers. Also clone stamped out some telephone wires that bugged me. This artwork was featured / February 8th, 2009 in the group Selective Coloring / January 29th, 2009 in the group The Woman Photographer / Original Image – Painted Horse /

Snake River Canyon is a large canyon formed by the Snake River in the Magic Valley region of southern Idaho. It is well known as the site of an unsuccessful 1974 attempt by Evel Knievel, to jump it in the Skycycle X-2. In the past it was generally believed the Snake River Canyon was created by a cataclysmic flooding of Lake Bonneville approximately 14,000 years ago. However, geologists now believe that while the canyon was shaped by the flood, its basic structure predated it.
