  • winter of 2005/2006, river in the great smoky mountains, was a great snow that year, this is a color shot, not black and white :)

  • another shot , shot on the last day of the year of 2007 / there wasnt that much snow in the cove, just enough to dust things and temps were cold enough to keep it there for alittle while, something about this field with the grass just tipped with snow and frost, the fog all around just awed me

  • Taken at sunrise on a very icy morning, it was a full time job just trying to keep my filter clear. The hill is Cat Bell’s probably the most popular hiking hill in the lake district you can usually see the procession of people walking to the summit on most days, but not today at fist light!!!!. / The Island is Derwent island and has a long history, in Elizabethan times(1500) it was occupied by the German miners who lived there for there own safety I think the local land owners were none to happy about the Queen and these mining companies taking all there precious minerals. / In 1770 Joseph Pocklington purchased Derwent Island for £300, known as King Pocky he built the boat house you can see in the shape of a nonconformist chapel with bell tower, there is also a large house in the centre of the island but it obscured from view by the trees. He got his nick name for organising mock battles on the lake.

  • One of my favourite places that I discovered that day on a trip down to the Bavarian Alps. The weather and light were just light and I had to try for a few shots. They turned out darker than I’d planned so there is a wee bit of post-pro here but the scene is how I remember it. Got stuck in the snow and had trouble getting the car back on the road afterwards, but it was worth it. I am drawn back to this location whatever time of year, but this scene is special. Nikon D1X. Sigma 18-200mm. / Location: Near Leibersberg overlooking Lake Rieg, Upper Bavaria, Germany.
