Its all in the title. This isn’t just an ordinary Church Spire. I am told its a copy of the Spire at St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh. This is actually what I would consider the most prominant landmark in Peebles. Peebles is a small Scottish Borders Town which lies about 20 miles south west of Edinburgh. Its possibly my most popular image to date out here in the real world. Made the Redbubble Home Page on the 29th of August 2008. Many thanks & best wishes from Robin; that’s me!! / Milestone reached, 1000 views. Thank you all kindly; Mum & Dad too. Reached on the 2nd of Oct 2008 / As featured on the front cover of the Church of Scotland’s 2010 Diary. Many thanks for that honour. / 2000 hits reached 30/08/09, Think Catriona Hamilton was the person who reached that landmark which is pretty fitting as she’s from Peebles. / Also available as a Christmas Card!! / / /

The rock is sacred to the local Anunga Aborigines. Ayers Rock is the popular English designation (named after Sir Henry Ayers, a 19th century Australian governor). However, the rock’s official appellation is Uluru, the one given by the Anunga Aborigines. dinner out in the desert, watching the full moon rise Digital photography / Composition of three images

BEST VIEWED LARGER This shot taken from MIlsons Point directly under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the lights and skyline of the city on the opposite shore. Taken around midnight the waters of Sydney are lit with colours of the rainbow. For visitors to Sydney , you can walk across to Milsons point, or catch train trip to Milson’s Point station. This shot was taken with no filters with a Nikon D300 and Nikon 18-200mm lens securely mounted on a Manfrotto Tripod, using three bracketed exposures which were then processed using Photomatix HDR Software. This image was captured from Olmsted Point in the high country of Yosemite National Park just before sunset. Half Dome is a true natural wonder of the world in itself and was lit with this wonderful light from the setting sun. Needless to say I was very fortunate to have been “at the right place at the right time”, which is what landscape/nature photography is mostly all about. All content & images © Stephen Vecchiotti. At the end of the day, the Colorado River caught the light as it wound its way through the immense gorge.
There are few places in Colorado that I love more than this one, and yes, it is a very iconic place, situated between Allenspark and Estes Park…and in Autumn it simply comes alive in ways I can not even begin to mention, the bushes turn a liquid gold in color, and everything resembles a painting….beauty in it’s most sincere form in Nature. I hope you all like it! / John /
