We rarely get snow in Central Texas but we often have ice storms. I photographed this ice encrusted cactus after a particularly heavy storm last winter.
A wintry ice storm came in a fury and laden the trees with inches of ice around the tree limbs. Trees were doubled over from the weight and many trees were uprooted. The sun was trying to break thru the clouds and the sunlight made the ice glisten and sparkle. It was so peaceful and beautiful. / Taken in East Stroudsburg, PA / Canon 30D, CS3 / / Welcome! 2009 / Featured in Severe Weather Group Featured in Extreme Weather Group This is the cloud that produced a large amount of hail that damaged a lot of Sydney properties on the 9-12-07. We were fortunate only to catch the edge of it at home. Taken with the wide angle lens at 17mm, I still couldn’t fit the whole cloud in the frame!!
Taken this past month here in Missouri. :)
This is the other photograph I took of the heart shaped ice on a twig. I love finding familiar shapes in nature. Another version
When I saw this scene I thought it looked as though Mother Nature was taking back what was hers. The stone of the building meets the force of nature head on… an epic battle of the ages. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography /
March winds hammer the Frankfort breakwall. This storm was so severe that at the southern end of Lake Michigan it closed down I-80/I-90 a major 8 lane Interstate Highway from the Michigan border all the way to Chicago, Illinois. “Closed down” as in trapped in their vehicles for 6 to 18 hours. The Frankfort Lighthouse seen in this photo is approximately 4 stories tall

This pic is as it was when I captured it. 2 Nights ago we had a small ice storm, it left about 2 centimeters of ice on every roof, electric lines and every trees in the locality, I have my share of trees surrounding the house, lilac, pines, maples, cedars and bushes of all kind. / Yesterday night was a full moon, the sky was clear of all clouds and the moonlight was very bright with no fog, here are some photos of a series I took around the house, some in total blackness with no street lights to disturb the beautiful bluish rays and hues of the moon and some have a little spark coming from the orange tinted lamp post we have as street lights in front of my house. / This is much better viewed larger, you’ll see… / Hope you enjoy the pics and thank you for viewing! 1-WOOOOOOW! Storm clouds seem to spew from top of majestic M. Rainier, almost as if this active volcano was erupting. Lupine and buttercup dot the alpine meadow in the foreground.
