  • A lone Cape Petrel gives some sense of scale to an eroded iceberg. Southern Ocean.

  • Tree with ice

  • 2009 / Featured in Severe Weather Group Featured in Extreme Weather Group This is the cloud that produced a large amount of hail that damaged a lot of Sydney properties on the 9-12-07. We were fortunate only to catch the edge of it at home. Taken with the wide angle lens at 17mm, I still couldn’t fit the whole cloud in the frame!!

  • Freshly fallen snow along a country road.

  • Canon 350 D 17-40 mm lens. Winter landscape with sunset in fog.

  • I took a shot of this old barn on my way home from a day of fantastic picture taking. The ladder leaning against the barn really caught my eye. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography

  • Old barn with a new look. A BIG Thank-You goes to Kimberly Palmer for giving this old barn a new look. The county wants to tear this barn down. They claim it is an eye-sore… so sad. It has so much character!

  • Bright red male Cardinal sitting in my very iced over pecan tree. Turned into a digital painting. Taken the morning following the 2007 Oklahoma Ice Storm. /

  • Snow covered bridge over an icy creek shortly after a heavy wet snowfall. Taken on local park district property which, after 32 years living here, I never even knew existed until I caught the Shutter Bug a few years ago. Bolingbrook, Illinois

  • This is my second attempt to play with this image to try to make it more interesting. I am not a big fan of black and white myself (I seem to need some color or it seems drab and boring to me). My wife had asked me to try this image in B/W and have it blown up to matte, frame, and hang on the living room hall. She liked the B/W version a lot and admittedly, so did I. I don’t know what prompted me to try this composite of B/W and color, but this image seemed to me to be a good candidate to experiment with the concept. I “think” I like it and to my surprise, my wife’s initial impression was that she liked it very much, so we have had it matted and framed and hung in our living room.

  • Country road through the forest in the winter.

  • Cool picture. Literally … Winter 2007 / 2008: China had its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad has seen its first snow in all recorded history. North America had the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile — the list goes on and on. It’s cold outside, so lets light up the fireplace to stay warm and snuggly and watch some movies. Frozen road construction signal in Munich, Germany, / late December 2007 / / Laminated Print /

  • This was taken off the side of a highway in the middle part of Minnesota….flat, gray and very cold. We were on our way back home from our Thanksgiving trip and I begged my sister to stop when I saw this fence. :) The icy frost was amazing to drive in…miles and miles of it.

  • Another view of the fence in this shot. This one tends to be my favorite because I like the longer-range perspective.

  • Taken with a Sony Alpha A-100 DSLR. Featured in Statues and Such. Challenge winner March 11th in #12 Great Features in the Back in Black challenge.

  • This is an Unedited just cropped photo of the ice accumulation on a Basketball rim in Manhattan, IL.

  • This is one of my favourite spots in my village (the Netherlands), on a beautiful wintermorning. Every time I bike over the cyclingpath next to the water, the play between the weather, the knotted willow trees and the water show a new scene. / / Canon EOS 350D / /
