A wintry ice storm came in a fury and laden the trees with inches of ice around the tree limbs. Trees were doubled over from the weight and many trees were uprooted. The sun was trying to break thru the clouds and the sunlight made the ice glisten and sparkle. It was so peaceful and beautiful. / Taken in East Stroudsburg, PA / Canon 30D, CS3 / / Welcome! Franz Josef Glacier, New Zealand While climbing the glacier I had to lay on my belly on the ice while my friend held the back of my jacket cause I kept sliding down – would’ve been a long bumpy ride to the bottom.

Te Anau is a small town next to a large lake in Southern New Zealand. This icy sunrise was beautiful, the mist rising off the lake, snow capped mountains and a setting moon. The red boat was just in the right place for contrast. / Nikon D300, 18-200mm lens at 18mm / 1/640s F/3.5

Taranaki Falls, Mt Ruapehu, North Island New Zealand. / Tongariro National Park. Tumbling 20 metres over the edge of a large lava flow, which erupted from Ruapehu 15,000 years ago, Taranaki Falls plunge into a boulder-ringed pool, on this night a ring of ice. Nikon D200, iso 400 / 30 second exposeure, with a bit of torch light on the cliff. / Cold night, Full moon, well worth the 1 hour walk.
