  • As sure as the sun rises each morning, so it is with God’s Great Faithfulness to watch over, protect and provide for each of us, His children. The dawning of a perfect Autumn day as the sun creeps up through the mist that has settled over Thompson’s Creek, on the historic Charlemont sheep station. Lamentations 3:22-24 (New International Version) / New International Version (NIV) 22 Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, / for his compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; / great is your faithfulness. 24 I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; / therefore I will wait for him. The words to the wonderful old hymn penned back in 1923, still stand testament today! • The words of the old hymn that inspired the title: When morning gilds the skies my heart awaking cries: / May Jesus Christ be praised! / Alike at work and prayer, to Jesus I repair: / May Jesus Christ be praised! When you begin the day, O never fail to say, / May Jesus Christ be praised! / And at your work rejoice, to sing with heart and voice, / May Jesus Christ be praised!

  • Sunset at the site of the old homestead at Charlemont sheep station, near Geelong Inspired by the words of the old Hymn: The day Thou gavest, Lord, is ended, / The darkness falls at Thy behest; / To Thee our morning hymns ascended, / Thy praise shall sanctify our rest. We thank Thee that Thy church, unsleeping, / While earth rolls onward into light, / Through all the world her watch is keeping, / And rests not now by day or night. As o’er each continent and island / The dawn leads on another day, / The voice of prayer is never silent, / Nor dies the strain of praise away. The sun that bids us rest is waking / Our brethren ’neath the western sky, / And hour by hour fresh lips are making / Thy wondrous doings heard on high. So be it, Lord; Thy throne shall never, / Like earth’s proud empires, pass away: / Thy kingdom stands, and grows forever, / Till all Thy creatures own Thy sway. The lyrics were inspired by Psalm 42:8

  • Some images of wonderful, Blessed moments amid God’s Creation. Most times, as I was capturing the images, the accompanying Scripture or Hymns, that I have titled each image with were impressed upon me rather strongly.

  • Today I went to the funeral of Doris, an amazing 94 year old full of character and spark who kept her wonderful spirit and personality right to the end. I shall miss her and when thinking of a title for this photo taken in our recent fall of snow, the hymn sung at Doris’ funeral today seemed perfect. I Believe “I believe, for every drop of rain that falls, A flower grows…. I believe that somewhere in the darkest night, A candle glows…. I believe for everyone who goes astray, / Someone will come, to show the way, / I believe, I believe I believe, above the storm the smallest prayer, Will still be heard… I believe, that someone in the great somewhere, Hears every word…. Everytime I hear a newborn baby cry. / Or touch a leaf, or see the sky, / Then I know why, I believe.” I like the contrasts in this: the encouragement of the small and delicate pink blossom surviving the harshness of a late fall of bitterly cold snow and ice.

  • As soon as I came across this lone lamb, I was reminded of the old hymn by Ira Sankey, based on Matthew 18:13…. The Ninety and Nine. There were ninety and nine that safely lay / In the shelter of the fold. / But one was out on the hills away, / Far off from the gates of gold. / Away on the mountains wild and bare. / Away from the tender Shepherd’s care. / Away from the tender Shepherd’s care. “Lord, Thou hast here Thy ninety and nine; / Are they not enough for Thee?” / But the Shepherd made answer: “This of Mine / Has wandered away from Me; / And although the road be rough and steep, / I go to the desert to find My sheep, / I go to the desert to find My sheep.” But none of the ransomed ever knew / How deep were the waters crossed; / Nor how dark was the night the Lord passed through / Ere He found His sheep that was lost. / Out in the desert He heard its cry, / Sick and helpless and ready to die; / Sick and helpless and ready to die. “Lord, whence are those blood drops all the way / That mark out the mountain’s track?” / “They were shed for one who had gone astray / Ere the Shepherd could bring him back.” / “Lord, whence are Thy hands so rent and torn?” / “They are pierced tonight by many a thorn; / They are pierced tonight by many a thorn.” And all through the mountains, thunder riven / And up from the rocky steep, / There arose a glad cry to the gate of Heaven, / “Rejoice! I have found My sheep!” / And the angels echoed around the throne, / “Rejoice, for the Lord brings back His own! / Rejoice, for the Lord brings back His own!”

  • The words of this old hymn, based on Psalm 18:2 Rock of Ages Rock of Ages, cleft for me, / Let me hide myself in Thee; / Let the water and the blood, / From Thy wounded side which flowed, / Be of sin the double cure; / Save from wrath and make me pure.

  • The Gnostic Gospels are a collection of early Christian Gnostic texts discovered near the Upper Egyptian town of Nag Hammadi in 1945. That year, twelve leather-bound papyrus codices buried in a sealed jar were found by a local peasant named Mohammed Ali Samman. / The contents of the codices were written in Coptic, though the works were probably all translations from Greek. The best-known of these works is probably the Gospel of Thomas, of which the Nag Hammadi codices contain the only complete text. / Amongst this wonderful collection was a Hymn to Isis. The complete translations of this collection was not completed until 1971. / Hymn To Isis / Because I am the first and the last / I am the venerated and the despised one / I am the prostitute and the saint. / I am the bride and the virgin. / I am the mother and the daughter, / I am my mother’s arms, / I am the sterile one, yet my children are numerous, / I am the married woman and the unmarried one, / I am She who gives birth and She who has never given birth, / I am the consolation for the pains of childbirth. / I am the bride and the groom, / And it was my man who nurtured my fertility, / I am my father’s Mother, / I am my husband’s sister. / And he is my rejected son. / Respect me always, / As I am the Scandalous and the Magnificent one. • The Anchor Holds. * A song of encouragement and hope for those going through the storms of life. Inspired by a real life experience. / By Lawrence Chewning and Ray Boltz THE ANCHOR HOLDS I have journeyed / Through the long, dark night / Out on the open sea / By faith alone / Sight unknown / And yet His eyes were watching me CHORUS: / The anchor holds / Though the ship is battered / The anchor holds / Though the sails are torn / I have fallen on my knees / As I faced the raging seas / The anchor holds / In spite of the storm Ive had visions / Ive had dreams / Ive even held them in my hand / But I never knew / They would slip right through / Like they were only grains of sand CHORUS I have been young / But I am older now / And there has been beauty / That these eyes have seen / But it was in the night / Through the storms of my life / Oh, that’s where God proved / His love to me CHORUS (repeat) / 1994 Word MusicASCAP (a div. of Word, Inc.) and Shepherd Boy MusicASCAP (adm. by Word, Inc.). • “I lay this foundation and cornerstone of the church to be built in this place, to be named the church of the Holy Trinity….: The speaker was the first Bishop of Australia William Grant Broughton, on a blustery Tuesday morning, 23rd June 1840.” The builder was Edward Flood and accepted price for materials is interesting to scan, Bricks were 2/15 a thousand. A labourer worked 10 hours for 5/- a week while the bricklayer for the same period received 8/6. Henry Ginn, the architect of the basic structure, estimated that the church would house 250 adults and 50 children and in his original design his calculations were not far wrong. Bishop Broughton decided to appoint Rev. John Couch Grylls as Rector of the new parish, and on August 7th 1843 services began. On September 10th 1843, the first baptism was performed, while the first marriage took place on October 23rd of that same year. Although officially named the church of the Holy Trinity, it has from its foundation, been more popularly known as The Garrison Church, simply because of the numerous regiments at the nearby Garrison worshipped there. On can envisage the colourful; black on grey, white on navy blue, red on white with gold trimming…… Equipment: Nikon D300, Sigma 10-20mm, handheld / Technique: HDR , 5 Bracketted Exposures, Photomatix, whith a tidy in Capture NX

  • This artwork has been FEATURED in the “Images & Ideas” group. :) One of several music-themed pieces I’ve been working on for the past few days. This is a digital piece using my 1922 sheet music, my photo of a piano and the silhouette came from Wikipedia Commons. I altered and enhanced the original silhouette digitally for this piece. Music has always been a big part of my life, so I thought it was time to bring some of my musical influences into my art work. More of my music themed art works: ((Most any of my musical themed works have compatible color palettes and can be hung in pairs or groups.)) “The Fiddlers” / “My Guitar Guy” / “Scales & Arpeggios” / “Saturday Night Jam” / “Song of The South” / “Encore! • This collage has been FEATURED in the “Going Green” group! :) Back to my early “roots” in mixed media collage’ work…...I started making collage’ art when I was a young girl. My grandmother would spread out an array of old seed catalogs, bird pictures, markers, crayons, glue and such, all over the table and tell me to use my imagination. So collage’ work is the medium I’ve been involved in longer than anything else, except drawing. (I still have one collage card I did when I was 10! I found it in a box of memorabilia my grandmother had saved, after she passed away. It touched my heart that she had saved some of my childhood art work.) The base for this work is a very old sheet music cover that I found in a junk shop while looking through a ton of old books. It’s old and corroded looking…....perfect for collage’ work. It’s been in my stash for years! I finally pulled it out and laid it on my work table so I would work on it. It laid there for weeks while I’ve been working on digital art. It kept “calling my name” every time I walked by, so a few days ago I stopped everything else I was doing and put this piece together. I adhered the old paper to 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper for sturdiness and to keep it intact. Here’s how the largest print size looks matted and framed. /

  • This was a great painting to make. View it large for detail. We have a had a crapola year… fighting major illness and a myriad of other boring time consuming bits that I wouldn’t wish upon ANYONE!. Sometimes, Mum (me) just felt like running away with the wind in my hair singing “BUGGER YOU ALL”! But i didn’t. Not even once. I hung in there. We all did. The girl in the painting, however, did manage to escape. And every now and then she’ll send me a postcard. If she can put down the martini…....
