Received a lot of great feedback on my first Hydrangea shot so thought I would exhibit another from the collection. Love the contrast between flowered elements and the yet to flower elements. Symbolism to me – the stages of life. / Regards / Paul

Acrylics on canvas (16×24inches). (sold) I love summertime in Ireland. Although our garden is quite a mess now because renovating our little cottage left us with very little time to pay attention to the garden, there are lots of flowers. Lilies and hydrangeas, even the odd tiger lily pops up between stones and overgrown weeds. The liles are real… the vase, glassy surface and little bowl exists only in my imagination.

Straight from the camera, no messing of any kind

Meaning: water vessel. / Ajisai is the floral symbol of the Japanese rainy season. In varieties of white, pink and blue, ajisai is indigenous to Shimano (the old name of the Nagano Prefecture). Hidden away in Japanese gardens until the 18th century, hydrangeas represent the / perfect symbol for the Heian period ideal of “mono-no aware”, that sense of awe and surprise when a person encounters the beauty of change.
