When I got to the point I was at she was letting me know I was becomeing bothersome, as seen here. She came closer and didn’t worry as long as I didn’t advance. She did worry some deer that was behind me here.they are also posted. As far as the cubs they came out as blurs as i didn’t have enought light to stop there action I never got a shot. They were fun to watch though which is the main reason for me being out there.

The second most endangered predator in all of Africa. They are endangered due to loss of habitat, and extreme predjudice. Humans in the past tried to exterminate these animals due to misconceptions and predjudices. They thought they were cruel, heartless killers, and instead it turned out to be these humans that were heartless. Cape Hunting Dogs(also known as wild dogs) are a necessary part of the ecosystem and like every animal God made, they have a role. They thin out the weak, old or sickly animals, and despite their reputation, are one of the most "humane" killers in that their prey dies very quickly compared to that of the other predators such as the lion.

On a recent visit to “Kapama Nature Reserve” I went on a night drive and got caught up in a “Lion Hunt”. We followed the male and two female lions, off road, through the bush on a open vehicle, normally used for nightdrives. Needless to say that I could hear my heart pumping in my ears! This was my first capture, to be, at night, in the middle of the bush and I really was very nervous as well. The male lion was not even 10 feet away when I got the shot and it was so quick, there was no time for settings, just put it on slow-capture, when the male appeared in the vehicles lights I just clicked! / The females were quiet close, on my side of the vehicle, when I got a shot in on them. I honestly did not think that I would get good captures as it happened so quick and there was no second chance as they went into dense bush that we could go in with the landrover. We searched for another two hours and eventually gave up and went back to the lodge. / I will never ever forget the feeling of excitement and adrenaline pumping, just the thought of capturing a “kill” was overwelming, a oppertunity once in a lifetime !

This one came right out of my head during a period when I was Chief Exec of NZ Deerstalkers’ Association. Needless to say, the prospect of standing in front of something like this with a pencil or camera in hand is not an exercise one contemplates. Pencil.
