STALKING TIGER Slowly through the grass / The tiger stalked his prey / His movement long and languid / In the middle of the day / The sun was high and bright / As a vivid burning orb / His body moving slowly / Less heat there to absorb / Gazelles were moving fitfully / Around the waterhole / Nervous eyes were flitting wildly / As the world they did behold / A movement in the distance / And the animals did jump / The nerve ends all a jangling / Each one with quivering rump / Then like avenging angels / The tiger now does pounce / Gazelles are scattering wildly / With a death like spinning dance / And one of them is slower / No longer held at bay / The tiger now triumphant / As it finishes its prey Phil Sanders (aka Brummieboy) / 5/4/07 Thanks for the wonderful poem Phil!

Bateleur Eagle / Terathopius ecaudatus The Bateleur eagle is the most famous of the snake eagles. Bateleur is French for “tightrope-walker”. This name was probably chosen because of its distinctive aerial acrobatics. Its pitch black feathers with white under the wings, bright red face and legs and black beak are characteristic markings. The Wife and I were outside with our visiting son. We are getting the ponds and yard ready for prime weather.. I heard my wife do an OMG. So I went over to see whats up… This is what I captured. My Wife thinks it was terrible. I viewed it as a bit exciting to see how nature works live. This is the one pick I decided on. It really did not take long and the snake wanted his lunch to go and was not going to wait for me to capture him.. Got Lucky.. Soon more nature stuff.. I will have more time to play after yard work is done.. LOL..

WILD AND FREE / / Two cheetah cub brothers sitting on a termite mound. Taken early one morning about half an hour after sunrise. (Masai Mara – Kenya) / / The world’s fastest land animal, the cheetah, is a unique and the most specialized member of the cat family and can reach speeds of 70 mph. Unlike other cats, the cheetah has a leaner body, longer legs, and has been referred to as the greyhound of the cats. It is not an aggressive animal, using flight versus fight. With its weak jaws and small teeth, the price it paid for speed, it cannot fight larger predators to protect its kill or young. The cheetah was once a common animal found on five continents, but is slowly losing its race for survival and is now classed as an Endangered Species!
