  • My husband walked right up to this squirrel and handed him a piece of bread, which he gladly took and devoured in about 2 minutes.

  • Nsabi reached the age where he was too old to remain with the troop. There can only be one dominant male and in this case it is Kakinga the father of N’sabi. In July of 2006 N’sabi and two brothers were moved to the Granby zoo.

  • Years ago I walked away from my art to pursue adventure and then a more “practical ” profession. One day, I felt the hunger that never quite left .I picked up a couple of brushes from a kid’s watercolor set and some acrylic craft paint that was laying around. When I finished, this painting sat before me.I went back and completed my education in art.Now years later,I am glad that I felt that desire.I owe a lot to this painting.

  • whats another dead fish, just think if polution had not of killed it , how many offspring would it have had …...and how many people could have gone without being hungry,....... yea so what just another dead fish, think about it!

  • This is my entry to the Micah Challenge exhibition at Parliament House Canberra as part of the Voices for Justice gatherings and rallies during October. Micah Challenge International and MakePovertyHistory have organized campaigns in National Capitals to push politicians to fullfill their promises to halve world poverty by 2015 as part of the Millenium Development goals set by the UN in 2000. Good things are happening but with the sudden problems with the Stock Market, we so easily retreat to our myopic self interest and personal comfort at the expense of our brothers and sisters who are really doing it tough around the globe. My focus in this painting is to question our interest in just physical poverty and perhaps to broaden the term to include our own poverty of spirit, which of course drives our minds and therefore culture making. Is the hungry African girl … suddenly transported to the ‘pinnacle of western development’ looking across at the hungry girl from the west with jealousy?... with pity?... with anger?... with puzzlement? Is the ‘spirit of democratic capitalism’ got everything to offer and nothing to receive?... even from the poorest of the poor? Hopefully this painting along with the others in the exhibition will prompt viewers, as it has myself, to rethink just what giving and receiving is. / Do I only give out of my excess? Is this self serving and patronizing? / What makes us change? Can we change our own spirit? Thanks for reading. P.S. All my profits from sales of this image on Redbubble will go directly to the Micah Challenge organization and TEAR Australia.

  • While others around her fish and enjoy the day she sits and waits, and then when you least expect she is mashing something that looks to be a banana and I dont know what else on top of some sort of leaf, I am not usually a people photograher, but something about her just caught my eye, you can see she is old and weathered but you cant realy see the face, this could be any one, someone you may know, or maybe even yourself one day down the line, alone with no where to go, just finding enough shade to fight off the suns hot rays, and a small piece of food to fill her just enough for the next day to come. And yet we walk on by her like she doesnt exist, but I cant help wonder where is her family? why is she here? on the peir somewhere in St Pete Florida, she sits with a small wind blowing at her back, just enough to make her feel somewhat cool, a hat to shade her eyes from the sun, and a sadness that I feel coming from her as I walk by. But she seems content as if this is how it’s been and will be for as long as time will allow…
