  • I found this little tree on one of those perfect blue sky alpine days that seem to go on forever. I spent the morning wandering around looking for pictures in this amazing place and came across this little dead tree on the edge of a small cliff. I walked around looking for a pleasing composition and eventually found myself lying in the snow near the edge looking through the lens until this composition finally revealed itself. On the far side of the hump is a small down hill ski resort with 6 lifts. Until last year it was a popular beginner resort but with global warming affecting snow falls this slightly lower resort has found snow falls so unreliable that it has been forced to close. In my opinion Mt Buffalo is the most beautiful alpine area on mainland Australia, a must see. For more pictures from this area check out my Mt Buffalo gallery. • For the longest time I dreamed of a wild adventure in Italy. In April 2008 that dream became an extraordinary reality. Our visit to the forgotten city of Pompeii remains a highlight of our trip. The images and stories from this archaeological site will remain with me for the rest of my life. On August 24 in the year 79 A.D. the volcano Vesuvius exploded, taking the town by surprise. In just two hours the entire city of Pompeii was completely buried under a deadly shroud of ashes six meters deep. Walking through the streets of Pompeii it was difficult not to get caught up in the romance and the tragedy of Pompeii’s story. It is a ghost city. It speaks to you … calls out to you … envelops you. I was captivated and didn’t want to leave. You could stay a year and still not uncover all of Pompeii’s secrets. “Speed Humps” gives us a glimpse into one of the streets of Pompeii. The “humps” in the middle of the road did not hinder the traffic .. rather they made it possible for the merchants and towns people to cross the road when it was filled with water.

  • Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Camels Hump As seen from Doug Sky Lookout, Mt Kaputar National Park, New South Wales. The Mt Kaputar (pronounced cap you tar) National Park lies to the east of Narrabri (approximately 53Km) and to the west of Barraba (approximately 55Km). Mt Kaputar, on the western edge of the Great Dividing Range, is the highest point until you reach Africa, and from its peak (on a clear day), about 10 percent of New South Wales is visible for 360º. The Mt Kaputar National Park is very much a local secret and holds a diverse range of vegetation and wildlife, including many threatened species. As much as 17 million years of erosion has sculpted the now extinct Nandewar volcano and what is left offers a majestic skyline of rocky outcrops with spectacular views. Mt Kaputar’s summit is 1524m and there are 11 marked walking tracks. Sets of Two / View_from_Doug_Sky_Lookout

  • Thrustman, BAM!

  • “Yashoo led Ogdon away from the old Wattle tree. Down a cinder path until they came to a moss covered humpback bridge that crossed the slow, murmuring river where the otters and platypus lived and played.” / – Adam Newcombe The snippet of narrative that I drew this image from.

  • I’m at a loss on this one. I was trying to throw junk in the basement away so I could sort of have a studio set-up. And I found this. I doubt if I’m done with it, but my girlfriend wants the stuff out of the den. My guess is there will be more work, I believe, but for now . . . uh . . . huh? Decker’s Hump Hill’s Pig Rings? It’s . . . not quite right. I have three boxes of this and a real desire to make a pithy statement. I should be able to piss people off with this one. The picture will improve. I intend pushing this one about as far as I can. That doesn’t mean car bombs and drunk Muslims seeking an insipid paradise . . . I would like to make it iconic. I always was difficult. It’s good to see that I still have that in me.

  • Honoring the unsung Heroes of the China,Burma, India, theater during World War II, who kept the Allies supplied with the weapons and supplies they sorely needed. • 3d art render of three Douglas C-47 Skytrain / Dakota flying supplies to China over the Himalayan mountains (the hump) in Burma when the Burma to China road was knocked out in 1942. Made with Bryce 3d. This image is not historically accurate, it is just an artist rendiition. The United States and its allies needed to keep . / China in the war because its forces preoccupied / hundreds of thousands of Japanese troops. / Holding that valuable Chinese turf permitted / the Allies to attack Axis powers in the / European theater, at the same time building a / necessary launch site for an Allied attack on / Japan’s home islands. However, that grand / strategy could only work if China and allied / troops could be routinely supplied. In April 1942, pilots started flying the “Hump,” / and continued missions until 1945, when the / Burma Road was reopened. The dangerous / 530-mile long passage over the Himalayan / Mountains took its toll. Nearly 1,000 men and / 600 Air Transport Command (ATC) planes / were lost over the hump by the end of China- / Burma-India Theater (CBI) operations. In / addition, China National Aviation Corporation / (CNAC) lost 38 planes and 88 airmen.
