Acrylic on textured tissue canvas. / I have always seen things within things. Scissors have always reminded me of bird’s beaks. One evening I was sketching at the kitchen table and this image came out. / A very talented bird who likes to create new hairstyles.
www.cathleentarawhiti.co.nz Featured on Redbubbles homepage / Thank you :) Baby rhino running rings around it’s mum and dad. It was so funny; looked like a puppy running up and down the hill, over to us and back to his parents then back to us again. Neowng! Here he is again – he’s skipped the ditch / A collaboration between Sam Cole-Surjan and I. Sam took the bush shot in Tolmey, near Mansfield Australia. I played with it and made The Yellow Dirt Road Then I added young Skippy here (sounds alot easier than it was). Hey! That’s my blood! I wish I could say that this photo was easy to do..but it wasn’t! / While it appears that I simply smeared my lipstick, it’s a bit more complicated than that. I started out by converting it to a B&W-blue filter-then curving it using the red channel only. I then blew it up to about 300%..and airbrushed the dark red paint on..(no less than 200 agonizing brush strokes!) / It was grueling-but fun. Illustration for part of my new Wonderland series based off of Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. ””The March Hare will be much the most interesting, and perhaps as this is May it won’t be raving mad—at least not so mad as it was in March.” – Alice (from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland) Original measures 12.5×19 inches and is a mixed media piece (acrylic, gold embossed decorative paper collage, oil pastels, colored pencils, sharpie, paint pen This is a scan so you can’t see the shining gold properly in this image, but it looks better in person.
