  • :) The whole X Men thing was based on the idea that you could have a really quick random evolutionary mutation that would produce enhanced fitness. Which is a fancy way of saying – “Hey, what if a dude grew claws!!! What if indeed… / / -

  • Pastel on sanded paper (Colourfix ‘terra cotta’ – Full Sheet 70 cm x 50 cm) Another in the series of paintings I completed last year after spending a few days camping in the Tarcombe area of Hughes Creek, Victoria, Australia. • This my version of the popular “It’s Not Lupus” tee. The original drawing was drawn in pencils on paper, and the rest is photoshop. This is a second version of my tee. This one is all transparent, so it is available on colored tees. I think I like this one better :) In the first version, the face had a white background. / The original drawing: /

  • Pastel on Colourfix sanded paper (burgundy) 70cm x 50 cm My second painting for 2009! Just finished it today and I have been working on it for a few hours each day for about 4 days. The location is Hughes Creek at Avenel. Took me awhile to be reasonably happy with the look of the shallow water and I became very annoyed that in amongst a million pastels, there was not ONE that was the right colour blue that I wanted! ‘No. 1 Featured Piece of the Day in the All About Water Group on the 15 January 2009 / 3rd place in the ‘Water in Nature challenge, ‘Real’ Life Art Group – Feb 2009 / ORIGINAL PAINTING SOLD at Kilmore Art Expo – March 2009 / One of the 50 Finalists in the Australian Guild of Realist Artists ‘Australia at Large 2009’ art competition – May 2009

  • My most popular Purple Passionate and I decided to see how it looked in sepia. And I liked the results. I arrived at Hughes Water Gardens to shoot just after an afternoon rain storm had washed everything clean. I love each water drop and the way the light bounces off of them. • This is my interpretation of the “Third Sorrow” of Ted Hughes “Seven Sorrows of Autumn”, which on the surface appears to be a sad poem but I think it’s really a paean to autumn....see the Fourth Sorrow below Watercolour on Watercolour on DrawMaster Paper The first sorrow of autumn / Is the slow goodbye / Of the garden who stands so long in the evening- / A brown poppy head, / The stalk of a lily, / And still cannot go. The second sorrow / Is the empty feet / Of a pheasant who hangs from a hook with his brothers. / The woodland of gold / Is folded in feathers / With its head in a bag. And the third sorrow / Is the slow goodbye / Of the sun who has gathered the birds and who gathers / The minutes of evening, / The golden and holy / Ground of the picture. The fourth sorrow / Is the pond gone black / Ruined and sunken the city of water- / The beetle’s palace, / The catacombs / Of the dragonfly. And the fifth sorrow / Is the slow goodbye / Of the woodland that quietly breaks up its camp. / One day it’s gone. / It has only left litter- / Firewood, tentpoles. And the sixth sorrow / Is the fox’s sorrow / The joy of the huntsman, the joy of the hounds, / The hooves that pound / Till earth closes her ear / To the fox’s prayer. And the seventh sorrow / Is the slow goodbye / Of the face with its wrinkles that looks through the window / As the year packs up / Like a tatty fairground / That came for the children....Ted Hughes / The Fourth Sorrow
