Here’s a favourite of mine from way back… (well, about 17 months to be precise). / Taking photos in the few small moments off here while I was working was one of the few joys I received over a couple of months and was quite happy with my takings from just one night, (same sunset I shot ‘Dancing Dampier Palms’). / Probably my first successful decent shoot of a sunset…so at the same time, this inspired me and has made me keen to improve since. Taken from the shores of Dampier in the Pilbarra region, Northern WA, Oz. Thanks for any looks &/or comments… / Cheers, / Matt.

Emerald Paradise As Is… / Canon PowerShot S3 IS Rainbow Springs Florida’s third largest spring, Rainbow Springs pump 600 million gallons of water daily and serves as the head water to the pristine Rainbow River. The property was acquired by the State Park Service in 1990 and is slowly being allowed to revert to its natural state. / Beautiful floral gardens surround the spring, and the area is immensely popular in the spring when the azaleas are in bloom. The state also acquired Rainbow Springs State Campground, located nearby, which was formerly privately owned. From the campground, you can tube or canoe the crystalline waters of Rainbow River, or fish for large mouth bass and other freshwater species. / A nature trail provides a lovely walk past two waterfalls and the azalea gardens, and meanders along the Rainbow River. Twice a day as the tides receed nature’s tidal artwork is unveiled – and what an exhibition it can be ! At glance it may be missed…but with a keener eye patterns emerge..sometimes contoured, other times smooth. Only can nature make such pieces of work that define true beauty on a seemingly endless scale. / / / Canon EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2007 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / / see more of my photography from Nth Qld below / / /
Shot along the Hutt River near Trentham Park in a small side stream after a hail storm, I’d taken the dog out and we had to shelter under a tree while the storm passed, once it cleared the light was magic, at the bottom of the valley the sun was trying to burst through (never did) which gave this Autumn peach tone. the peach tone lasted for about 3 mins and then it was gone followed by another down pore, I love the way the mist over Moonshine and Riverstone merges with the sky, I needed a very low angle to get the light reflected into the water, I’m om my knees in the water for this shot and it was bloody cold. Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm Nikkor Lens and a cokin ND8 grad
The old I Street bridge carries cars on the top level and trains on the lower level. It is a turnstyle bridge to allow boats to pass.
Ok so everyone is probably sick of all my flood filter photos but I’m having way too much fun! This is my girlfriend’s kitten Jaguar, this shot was taken in her backyard in autumn and I thought it would make for a good subject for a flood filter. Also changed the hue and saturation of her eyes in Photoshop, other minor changes such as slight cropping done in Lightroom.
As dawn breaks on a low tide revealing an incredible array of tidal sand patterns. I discover something that appears out of the ordinary – ‘against the grain…’ / I am unsure of what sort of worm or creature is the architect of this mighty fine little structure but it certainly caught my attention. / / EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2007 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / see more of my photography from Nth Qld below /

this is one of a series of three. This one is for a commission. Knowing a little about the person, besides knowing he likes red, and abstract, and loads of texture, he’s also gone through big change in his life (new business, going well, old relationship ended) One of the things he loves in his business is seeing a ‘situation’ and cleaning it up to be fresh, sparkling and better than expected. Bearing this in mind, the surface of the canvas was highly textured. There is loads of ‘chaos’ that is steam rolled through, leaving a shining path. It is a visual reminded of his efforts of the day, and the mark he leaves on the world. It is vision of happiness, a job well done, a tribute to freedom and moving forward. I have amped up the colour so it looks great in print.
There is a separate image upload of this image which is available as a card because this version looses the end of Mouse’s nose when it is applied to the card.
ABSTRACT OF PURPLE and gold hues with black and my first attempt to get an image (fireworks) into a bubble and also using the bubbles with the image.
This montage of flowers celebrates fhe color purple, the color of passion, of royalty, of depth! The love child of tempestuous red and subdued blue, purple is a cross between fire and ice.
I just loved how the blue paint of this boat matched the hues of the sea at the time this shot was captured.
Yet another sunset, the intentness of the light attracted me to this, and of course the deep hues. AV
Sunrise on the ocean, is a beautiful look with the mist rising and the sky and sea taking on the colors of the sun. Get up before 5 and take a walk if you live near a beach, it’s so worth it. Hunting Island State Park, Beaufort SC Camera, Canon 5D / Digitally enhanced photography

Found many of these lovely flowers blowing in the wind this evening. Poppies, perhaps. Used the opportunity to practice selective focus, since the aperture needed to remain large with as fast a shutter speed as possible in the wind. Nikon D300 and a Nikkor 105mm macro lens. 105mm, at f/6.3 and 1/400 sec, -0.3ev, IS0 200, manual exposure. monopod. Converted from 14-bit RAW to jpeg using Capture NX 2.1. Bright sunlight, windy. Unedited. 4288×2848px, high-res Meanwhile, I’ve been deleting landscape shots, all the while asking What makes a good landscape shot? in the forum of A Photographer’s Craft. Some great responses.
