  • A late night view of the New York City skyline and the Hudson River.

  • Original Photo © jwarburton 07. Post work in PSP. Someone mentioned on another site that she remembers being asked a test question in grammar school, “does the Statue Of Liberty really have sandals on her feet?” Yes, she has sandals on her feet, she’s moving forward with one foot lifted. She has the mark of the early Romans (toes) still visible in many people today – second toe is longer than big toe and little toe is “hammered”. :) “Is the Statue of Liberty in New York or New Jersey?” The statue is part of New York Harbor and sits in Liberty State Park which is in Jersey City, New Jersey. The statue is actually in New Jersey. New York Harbor includes the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, the first stop for all immigrants (1892 – 1954) who arrived in New York by boat. • another working of my favourite rustmobile, a Hudson Superwasp

  • I know this is rusted and paint looks sorta smeared but the to me that makes it what it is..a classic, and I like the Hudson emblem. Nikon D90 / 18-200mm VR Lens

  • His name is Hudson, but we call him Buddy. We have this ancient radio that has cool details and I had an idea to use it as a backdrop for a portrait photo, but when I asked him to pose for me, all I got was goofy grins and serious self-consciousness until I had the bright idea to give him the remote release and let him do it himself. Once he got going, there was no stopping him! As far as he was concerned, I wasn’t even there. The delight on his face has got nothing to do with quality time with Mom, and everything to do with ‘male-remote-control-delight-response’..... Canon 400D, natural light.

  • Hudson River / New York State Sailing to Byzantium a Poem / by William Butler Yeats / I That is no country for old men. The young / In one another’s arms, birds in the trees / - Those dying generations – at their song, / The salmon-falls, the mackerel-crowded seas, / Fish, flesh, or fowl, commend all summer long / Whatever is begotten, born, and dies. / Caught in that sensual music all neglect / Monuments of unageing intellect. II An aged man is but a paltry thing, / A tattered coat upon a stick, unless / Soul clap its hands and sing, and louder sing / For every tatter in its mortal dress, / Nor is there singing school but studying / Monuments of its own magnificence; / And therefore I have sailed the seas and come / To the holy city of Byzantium. III O sages standing in God’s holy fire / As in the gold mosaic of a wall, / Come from the holy fire, perne in a gyre, / And be the singing-masters of my soul. / Consume my heart away; sick with desire / And fastened to a dying animal / It knows not what it is; and gather me / Into the artifice of eternity. IV Once out of nature I shall never take / My bodily form from any natural thing, / But such a form as Grecian goldsmiths make / Of hammered gold and gold enamelling / To keep a drowsy Emperor awake; / Or set upon a golden bough to sing / To lords and ladies of Byzantium / Of what is past, or passing, or to come. The plan was to shoot some fun shots of Perrin (13) in the socks, but while we were busy, Hudson (4) decided he needed to join in the fun. When he plonked himself down in the middle of the shot, I saw an opportunity I couldn’t resist. ( : Canon 400D, pp in photoshop cs2

  • I shot the original version of this image a number of years ago… back in my “film” days! (I can’t wait for the day when my daughter says to me “Daddy tell me again how you used to shoot film…”) This path is located in Battery Park City next to the Hudson River-just a short distance south of where the World Trade Center used to stand. I always liked the composition of the original shot but felt it was slightly lacking in mood and atmosphere. So into the world of textures I went. I wound up using a blend of two separate textures for the final image. One of the textures is my current favorite “Of Corpse Not” from Skeletal Mass on flickr. Here’s a link to the texture One of the wonderful advantages of working with texture layers is that they can add so much emotion to a photo. This shot was taken right about dusk and the textures suggest the peace and tranquility of that time of day. I also like the fact that even though the park is fairly modern this scene looks as though it could have been snapped a hundred years ago. / /

  • Life goes on, down by the river. Folks are peacefully mingling about the World Trade Center complex. I imagine this must have been just like this on Sept. 10th, 2001. Oddly enough, if you look really close at the left side of this image, (at the second set of palm tree trunks inside the building), does it not appear as if one of the towers is kicking out a white cloud and above the cloud it appears to be crumbling? Crap, not sure that I can leave this posted now, I just can’t bear watching images of the towers pancaking and coming down …. Taken with Nikon D200 and Nikkor 24-120mm lens. HDR image created from single RAW image using ReDynaMix. / Best viewed in Large for sure! This image is currently on display at the Walls Fine Art gallery in Downtown Norfolk, VA. Price here closely matches gallery price.

  • This is just for me, I wanted to get all nine of my ridiculously good looking children in one image. All of these portraits were shot in the last week, so this is truly current.
