  • this gang of Adelie penguins gave me a great opportunity for quite a series of entertaining photographs as they zoomed busily about their icy playground. This photo has become a symbol of connection and friendship among my own personal group of nearest and dearest friends.

  • Taken at Taronga Zoo, Sep 2007 / Some other shots from my day at the zoo, if you are interested Zoo pics

  • taken at lineer ponds to day 26-07-08 this is another second brood

  • An unusual looking cluster blossom I found on the side of the road near my home. To me it looked like a bunch of tiny parachutes all huddled together. I’m told this is a variety of a Pea Flower. Whatever it is I thought it was lovely and very unique. Enjoy! Len /

  • Yes their back! The ladybirds from Mount Burr made an emergence yesterday with thousands massing in a number of spots within the forest. This group were huddled together in their hundreds on a power pole just above ground level. As with all things in life there is always one or two who stand out in a crowd. Canon 400D 18-55 taken at night with aid of a speedlight. Processed in Photo shop CS3.

  • Yes, the ladybirds often seen on my site have made a recovery and were in their thousands last night in the forests at Mount Burr in South Australia. This group kept emerging from the darkness towards my flash as I tried to get some night time shots of them huddling together on a power pole. The bolt joining the frame and cement together made a point of focus for the shot and a small platform for them to climb on Canon 400D 18 -55 with a speedlight. Processed in Photoshop CS3.

  • Yesterday I reported the swarming of thousands of these beautiful creatures in the Mount Burr Forest in the South East of the State. This lot were clustered around the nut on a bolt holding the side plate onto a powerpole. Interestingly I went back today and nearly all of the tens of thousands had disappeared back to wherever they came from. What a magical twenty four hours this was. Thanks to Biggzie (see his site for some great images) I can now tell you that they are the: Common Spotted Ladybird / Harmonia conformis Canon 400D 18 – 55 lens with speedlight.

  • An image to match yesterdays post where another group of ladybirds were at the other end of this bolt. Two days ago I reported the swarming of thousands of these beautiful creatures in the Mount Burr Forest in the South East of the State. This lot were clustered around the nut on a bolt holding the side plate onto a powerpole. Interestingly I went back yesterday and nearly all of the tens of thousands had disappeared back to wherever they came from. What a magical twenty four hours this was. Thanks to Biggzie (see his site for some great images) I can now tell you that they are the: / Common Spotted Ladybird / Harmonia conformis Canon 400D 18 – 55 lens with speedlight. ””If we ever get this nut off – anyone got a spanner?”

  • Another trip out to the swarming of ladybirds that I have been reporting on at Mount Burr South Australia. This time we took them flowers!!!!!! The thousands I have posted on recently have dwindled to small groups of twenty to thirty and are slowly moving on. They climbed aboard our flowers which gave us opportunities to take some images a little different to those uploaded over the last few days. I promise the ladybirds shots will stop soon but they are just such brilliant works of nature that I can’t help keep going back whilst they are there. Canon 400D 18 – 55 lens with two stage extension tubes and speedlight.

  • 2 Owlets peaking around the corner trying to figure out if they should be afraid or not. Mom was sitting on the top of a tree watching all the action from above. They are so cute! I learned that mom feeds them every night at 8PM. She stays with them at night at their “woman” made shelter. Taken in Green Valley, AZ. • During my solo exhibition a couple of weeks ago F.A Moore asked me what I used to paint when I first started out. Mainly influenced by Manet, this is the kind of painting that I used to do way back then. I’ve had this painting hanging in my basement since 1999 and have never offered it for sale before. Although very traditional, it’s one of my first and one of my favorites. Acrylic on masonite board 20 X 24 inches framed in two-tone black/brown.
