Of course I have many different shots just like this :-) I posted a photo in color as well at a different time called – Approaching / Autumn / ....................................................................................................................... / / ....................................................................................................................... / Click to View By Category: / - Waterfall Photos / - Selective Coloring / - Infrared Photos / - Black and White Photos / - Animal Photos / ............................................................................................................... / / ................................................................................................................ /

By request here is the first of a series of tutorials I will be writing. If there are any questions in relation to this tutorial feel free to post them here and I will answer them as best as I can. Remember that the most important thing is to keep practicing and eventually you will find what works best for you. Have fun playing :o) Simone Edit: I have revamped the tutorial now to include the comparison chart and trouble shooting guide. I have made the page A4 at 100dpi so that you can print it out and keep it in your camera bag for reference. Just click on the tutorial image to download the jpg file. Black glass magic – I had gone on this shoot with a bad attitude, expecting the sky to be bland and the day to be a waste of time, and therefore I set the camera on large jpg so I wouldn’t waste too much computer space….As it turned out, I’ve managed to drag out some amazing results. This is another straight from the camera image, although I had to take it into PS to straighten the horizon…. Canon 5D Mk II, 16-35mm at 16mm, f/10, 90seconds, ISO 50, Hoya NDX400, Singh Ray 3 stop reverse grad, Lee 0.9 ND grad, tripod, cable release, lots of guessing….I should point out the red sky is enhanced by the Singh Ray filter, which seems to put a colour cast across the ND area when used in conjunction with the Lee filter…. - / SEASCAPES / NEW ZEALAND / PEOPLE

Summer…goodbye…
My infrared version of this famous Melbourne landmark. Canon EOS450D and 18-55mm kit lens / HOYA R72 filter / f/5.6 / ISO400 / 13sec exposure So..how did I do it?? / Well, the best that I can remember is….. The image was converted to B&W with a Photoshop Action. Then I duplicated the layer and added a high pass filter to it then used Topaz Adjust on that layer and then altered the Opacity (I can’t remember what method I used when blending the layers…oops). (I may have also inverted this layer and added it aswell to give more contrast).... After combining those layers I then used Topaz Adjust again on the whole image, made it a hidden layer mask and just painted in the details on the building….or something like that!
