  • A Baying Wolf, is a sad and haunting sound you dont hear anymore, to me it seems as though they knew long ago it would come to this pass, hence their howling started. A rare sound indeed. / Wolves are an endangered species and have been hunted for centuries and nearly extinct, hopefull through careful conservation these beautiful beasts will be around forever and everyone can hear their special song. A pastel picture, I try to do art with heART. On the rise her head lifts / The breeze takes the howl adrift / As she cries, for the life of her pack. / The mournful sound of loss and grief / Is carried upon rustling leaves. / For what is done, is done / And there’s no going back. For a moment, in the Golden haze / She sees me from where I stand / And from the depths of my heart I feel her pain. / With pride she holds my gaze. / Her Forgotten song goes unheard to some. / But I hear her all the same. I close my eyes. / Her words are soft and wise. / One single tear adorns my cheek, / As she finds the words she wants to speak, / She tells me the story of the Forgotten Song. With that, she appears before me / No longer is she upon the hill I see. / I reach down to touch her, / She is not real / But I feel the warmth and life in her fur. She allowed me this moment of insight / Before she fled back to the night. / And suddenly, / Under my fingers was no longer the softness of her fur / But just the gentle spirit of her / And of the Forgotten Song. / For what is done, is done. Many thanks to Laura for this beautifully written poem

  • A strong emotive outburst like a gale force wind, / a storm is brewing within that we cannot rescind: Disturbing the earth and sky as lightning bolts / As the hearts’ of the pack feel the fortified jolts; No rage or ranting, as we unite and vigorously stand / within the eye of stormy skies for our homeland; Hunting for answers amidst chaos, we soon find / appreciating one another is the key for humankind; The calm before the storm of vibrations’ change / is the solace and comfort of compassions’ range; So do not fear and wear your masks with pride, / for united we’ll stand strong for this stormy ride… WindOwl 10/23/08 Riders on the Storm – DOORS Apohysis fractal, liquified and tweeked in photoshop on a calm night before the storm…. / /

  • Before our President elect was official, the current administration reacted to the knowing that they were almost out of power, by enacting measures to take Wolves off the Endangered species list, allowing power plants to operate near national parks, loosen regulations for factory farm waste and make it easier for mountaintop coal-mining operations. / I am agitated by all these efforts, however my greater concern is for the WOLF, as it was nearly eradicated here in the 20th century, remarkably recovered by sincere and persistent efforts, only to be threatened once again by the powers-that-be… As the Mourning Moon rises, we give thoughts to brother Wolf / whilst a mighty pen has warranted their sudden deaths to engulf A totem called upon for protection and strength to be taught / is in need of our right actions, not just words – to be fought From each sacred direction the mighty wolf pack calls / for their survival, as others’ face extinction with their fall From the Northern lights an airborne shooting hunt ensues / upon Ice-leapers’ lair, so a governors’ ego does not bruise In the east, paper stained with crude oil and blood / seals Dawn-treaders fate with powers’ arrogant flood To the south ignorance is bliss, to simply remove / Sun-chaser to another place with hunting skills to prove In the west, talk is cheap as habitat quickly disappears / so the Night-stalker fades into the shadows of souvenirs A pack of human voices is needed now to howl / in this eleventh hour, working together – on the prowl.
