Beach huts in Brighton taken with a knackered old Kodak Duaflex
I’ve been wanting to do a shot like this for a while but haven’t been able to find a decent location for one. Today I walked 7 miles and found a wonderful, quiet, deserted little beach which gave me the opportunity to take quite a few photographs I’ve been searching for for a while. Cokin Circular Polariser, Fluoro-pink Grad and ND Grad (121S) used. RAW conversion and levels adjustment in Photoshop CS2. Make: NIKON CORPORATION / Model: NIKON D80 / Shutter Speed: 3/1 second / F Number: F/16.0 / Focal Length: 30 mm / ISO Speed: 200
An original painting, the first from a series of paintings in acrylics/mixed media which has photographic qualities (but it is a painting none the less). Inspired by a surreal May evening at Hove beach where the sea and sky blended into one – there was no horizon, and the sea turned to mercury.

Beautiful but simple stained glass window in church in Hove. I shot a close up and it seemed to cry out in it’s simplicity, the words I have added.
The beach huts in Hove after dark. Everyone photographs them in sunshine blazing their colour back into the camera – I thought I’d try something a little different. Camera: Nikon D80 / Lens: Nikkor 18-55mm VR AF-G / ISO: 200 / SS: 30s / Aperture: F/16 / Exp. Comp.: +0.3EV
Original abstract painting – a squashed fruit..!!

Sunset over Hove / I was sitting having a cup of coffee at a Seafront Cafe with a fellow photographer. / The Sun ,Fishing boat & Seagull decided to line themselves up for me. / Right place, right time.
An original abstract painting (originally a triptych – 3 x canvas) – using techniques that I have developed over time exploring flow, movement and texture
These regency houses in Palmeira Square offer a wonderful view of he sea and tell a tale of a bygone era of splendour during the reign of Georve IV and Prince Regent. The houses where originally built around the 1830’s and are part of an an estate bought in 1830 by Baron Goldsmid, founder of University College, London. (He was also a Portuguese noble, with the title Baron de Palmeira – hence the name of the square). / location: Palmeira Square, hove, Sussex, England
Another of the shots from last night’s shoot which I’ve been wanting to get for a while. It’s not completely the shot I was looking for, and I’m going to keep trying until I get the exact one I want, but this will suffice for the moment. Cokin Circular Polariser, Fluoro-pink Grad and ND Grad filters used. RAW conversion and levels / curves adjustment in Photoshop CS2. Make: NIKON CORPORATION / Model: NIKON D80 / Shutter Speed: 3/1 second / F Number: F/11.0 / Focal Length: 44 mm / ISO Speed: 200
An original painting, highly textured beach scene. The inspiration coming from the fact that I live just a stone’s throw (the splash) from Hove beach in East Sussex. The subtitle is taken from a line from the song ‘The Cutter’ by The Bunnymen which has a more personal level.
Evening sights along South Australias Coastline – Hove.

From my ‘On the Horizon’ series of paintings – as morning breaks, the horizon over the sea. A light at the end of my tunnel tells of a more personal tale….
One of my more abstract takes on the sea and the sky – depicting lifes trials and tribulations.
inspiration from a vacation in Sardinia.
inspiration taken from a ferry boat trip from the Sardinian village of Calasetta to the island of Carloforte – the crystal clear waters turning turquoise over the white sands beneath the ocean.
From my ‘On the Horizon’ series of paintings – depicting a decisive moment in ones life…time to move on? leave it all behind.
