Old deserted Irish Farm. Very overgrown with major decay having set in. This has an old glass plate photographic effect.
A window of an traditional country farm cottage in Ireland. Nice whitewashed wall on this shot..

On the return trip from the East Coast Trail in Bay Bulls, we spotted this beautiful red fox lying down in the grass on the lawn of one of the houses.
I forget the exact location but I spotted this dwelling on my travels in Scotland. It seemed as though it was only in need of a bit of TLC so I asked a couple of locals if it used to be an Inn or parish building. The reply was, “no, just a house”, and then they locals turned and left without another word…..............Almost as if there was some mystery surrounding it that they didn’t want to talk about…...........hence the title Unloved Canon 350D 18-55 IS Tonemapped
Rustic old truck (1940’s) on farm in North Carolina mountains. / PS…... Since posting this, I have had some inquries asking what Popeye has to do with this photo. Many years ago, in the Southeastern US and maybe other areas, a vehicle that had only one headlight shining was called a “Popeye.” Hope that explains it a little better. /
Why not a Chrismas card !!!! A place called St-Anne-des-Plaines,the paradise of strawberry during summer time but fields of snow on winter…...”with some processing”...When I saw that old barn I already notice the beautiful colors of the wooden boards.Quebec,Canada. / / /
After visiting the beautiful Cambewarra Lookout in the Morton National Park south of Sydney, you can meander down the mountain towards Nowra and this is the type of panoramic scenery you will find … Smoke haze is evident here from the bushfires further into the Morton National Park at the time. ARCHITECTURE IS WHERE YOU FIND IT / Architecture is to do with the designing of buildings and structures, but in its broader meaning it also includes the design of our complete built environment. It can be found in outback areas, on mountain peaks, almost anywhere on the land, even on the sea in the form of oil rigs and it surrounds us in our places of abode. We tend to take it for granted and complain when its appeareance doesn’t suit our taste. Architecture provides us with shelter, places to work, gives us points of reference in our urban wilderness, but most important of all, it provides a fundamental basis for the way we live. Architecture is ephemeral, can be a thing of great beauty, and its elements can be pillaged and used as building blocks by successive generations. Past civilizations are often known through their achievements in architecture and certain works have become cultural, political and artistic icons. Presumably a family once lived in this little house at Fernie, British Columbia. It now stands derelict and isolated, yet it seems to exist as a monument to the toil of hard working rural people anywhere. The image was captured during summer 2008 towards the end of a photographic journey through the Canadian Rockies. Thanks for taking the time to view my photos and feel free to comment. You are welcome to visit my photography website My most recent publication ‘ARCHITECTURE WITH CHARACTER’ includes images of this rural house. Click on image below for a preview.

Remember that house .. / when you were a child / the house that everyone thought was haunted / you know the one….we all had one… you faced your fear and entered the house on the hill *** / / A wonderful story written for my picture by:iconmahjongmonkey: I want to live in that house on a hill. / The joy I could share / With the one I love near / As we live in that house on a hill. The sun will shine through on each window sill. / We’ll dance in the kitchen / Of that house on a hill. The nights will be calm / But we don’t have to be still. / There is much to enjoy / In that house on a hill. I’ll dream happily of the present we share. / I won’t have a care as long as he’s there, / And we’re in that house on a hill. I’ll smile and sing, / All of our hopes will take wing / As we grow in that house on a hill. But I just sit and stare / At the shadows in there. / Empty window panes / And the garden that snares / My sad little house on a hill. The clouds in the sky fail in deterring / My sunny imagination. / It’s with a hopeful tear / That I turn away / From that abandoned house on the hill. Alone, she prays for her chance to escape, he’s had her held here for what seems like months..she keeps going back to that day she was snatched from her world, it was a beautiful day, she took that short walk through the woods to the little lake that she has come to since she was a little girl, not knowing the evil that was lurking and watching, and now she’s here, held against her will..his prisoner.. she lays down on the dirt floor, closes her eyes and escapes to her dreams..the dreams of being Anywhere BUT here. Nikon D90 / 18-200 mm VR Lens I do believe this is actually farmers quarters, there were 3 of these houses right next to each other.
He felt it as soon as he walked in the house..THE EVIL..yet one look at his new brides face wiped that feeling away..she loved it, and all he wanted to do is please her, and please her he did when she turned to him with “I Love it” on her lips..he turned to the real estate agent and said “We’ll take it”...from that day his world was turned upside down..The voices started not long after moving day, telling him that “she was no good” his beautiful wife…convincing him he would be better without her..whispering those terrible things he should do to “Fix” her..Now he sits at the top of the stairs looking down at the bottom where she lays crumbled and not moving..flashes of remembrance coming in and out..her running with him on her heals, screaming for her to “come back”...her slipping..reaching for him, tumbling..and now all he can hear is the voices again..claiming him, he knows now he is forever here in this evil house..IN ITS GRIP.. Nikon D90 / 18-200 mm VR lens
The house sits like her heart… Empty, once full of love and life, now the halls echo with the laughter..the joy of their love, Memories of happiness are all she has. He left for work that day with a kiss to her lips, a “I love you” on his way out the door, she waved to him out the window and blew him a kiss..if she only knew that would be the last time she tasted his kiss, felt his touch, she would never have let him go..The only relief out of all this pain and heartache is he didn’t suffer, when the truck hit his car head on, he died instantly. Now she waits, unable to leave their home, not wanting to go on, knowing that he waits for her..she prays for “HER” life after death, to be in his arms again, to feel his kiss, his touch, to make this house their home for eternity, the way it should have been..but again she wakes to the emptiness of the halls, the emptiness of their bed and of her heart..she goes to the window and like a movie played over and over agiain she sees him getting into his car..she pounds on the window..yells for him to STOP!!!..to COME BACK!!!...and like every day he pulls away and disappears into thin air…leaving her again.to her pain, and their empty house. Another abandoned house, Loved the blue color of this place. Nikon D90 / 18-200 mm VR lens

Featured in Cottage Style / Featured in “Old Things – 3 per Day” We recently visited some dear friends who were living in Painswick, Gloucestershire, in England. Originally from America, they have lived in England for short periods of time (3 or 4 years) due to work. This was our last visit to their little cottage home in the lovely village, as they have now moved back to the states, but they are already planning to move back as soon as possible. We have enjoyed our frequent trips to visit them and this lovely old cottage. The cottage dates back almost 300 years (sometime in the 1700’s) and is a feature of the well known Tibbiwell Lane. It is as beautiful inside as it is outside. This door front scene was used as a magazine/catalogue cover for the company Scotts of Stow, and countless visitors to the village have taken photos of this beautiful and historic home. The property used to be two separate cottages but were combined at some unknown date. Please do click on the photo to view larger and please enjoy.
