  • During the second world war Portsmouth was extensively bombed, much of the old city that had developed over the thousand years of its existence were obliterated. One part that remains is Spice Island with the buildings huddling together on a tiny spit of land. It has been rebuilt part old and part new, but it still remains a busy crowded area dripping with history.

  • Small holding under the mighty Gribun Rocks, Isle of Mull, Western Scotland

  • Fort Amherst is located at the entrance of St. John’s Harbor opposite Signal Hill across the Narrows’. The Fort was built in the 1770’s to defend the entrance of the Narrows’. Gun placements were used at The Fort during WWII to protect the harbor from German U-boats. In 1813 a lighthouse was built at Fort Amherst and was to be the first permanent lighthouse established in Newfoundland. It operated until 1835 but was then replaced by a new structure in 1852, which was demolished in the early 1950’s to make way for the new lighthouse which is seen today. / More in this series / / / / / / / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography

  • One of the small buildings in the grounds of Oceania House, Cocos Islands. Now privately owned, the property was home to several generations of the Clunies-Ross family, who initiated the trade of coconuts, coconut oil and copra. The plantations were worked by the Cocos-Malay people who remain a unique, isolated community For enquires about canvas prints, or photographic prints larger than Redbubble options, please contact me via bubblemail

  • Artwork from Ireland. I came across this little old cottage in The Aran Islands off the coast of County Clare/ County Galway on the west coast of Ireland. I’m sure there was a pot of tea brewing on the stove there many many years ago. These tiny fields are dating from The Great Irish Famine of the 1840’s Ireland. That’s the sea in the background. Camera: Kodak DC265 (old digital dating from 1999 …only 1.5million pixels…hence the pixelated look of the image) / This image has been colour enhanced digitally for more dramatic effect. • You know where, and I’ll tell you when … we will meet again.

  • It was a dreary and grey day today. The fog was so thick so I decided to go for a drive to one of the lighthouses. This is an old outhouse hanging over the edge of the cliff next to the lighthouse. This is what the lighthouse keeper would use to scratch that itch… lol. It’s probably about 100 feet to the ocean straight below. / / What you can’t see in the image is that behind the outhouse there is nothing but open ocean for the next 3000 miles. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / / Canon 400D/XTI / 3 Shots.
