The sun is setting at Pigeon Point Lighthouse in California. This old light on the Northern California coast is now more a tourist stop than anything else, but you can still feel what it must have been like once upon a time when the day was ending and this lighthouse was gearing up for the night ahead warning ships from the rocky coast.
acrylic on canvas, 44×54 cm (17×21 inches) / original SOLD / available as a print on 180 lb. acid-free 100% rag paper, signed by the artist / also available as a signed 30×40 inch (50×75 cm.) poster Don’t you recognize me? / I am the voice of red waves / shifted into the house of the past. / I speak to you even in this present darkness. / Listen as the echoes whisper of that former time. My reflections mark the place of what once was / and what is yet to be. / Cast your hope upon these waters. After many days it shall return, / a fresh incarnation of your dream / to carry you forward on the tides of my memory, / and away from this sandless hourglass. - Kai Matta
Taken January 10th. The weather was extremely drab and gloomy all day. However, just as the light was beginning to fade I noticed a few different cloud formations moving in from the coast, and just got that funny feeling there might be some light on it’s way that could be worth playing with. So I jumped in the car and headed to Wheal Coates. Set up the tripod and waited. Everything remained very grey. Then, for 2 minutes max, just after the sun had set (not that you could see it when it was up!) everything went incredibly orange
Taken at Mt. Diablo at sunset.
Sometimes, I love to stand in the kitchen during sunset.. My apartment is on the highest floor for my building, an so, i can always see the beautiful sky from the kitchen, framed by 2 taller buildings beside my apartment.. i’d feel very small then.. It’s a nice and peaceful feeling, as compared to looking out at the sky from my bedroom, where i’d hear the noises busy working people, students or tourists and smells of cars and buses. This was taken during sunset..

Went to my grandparents in bluffton for thanksgiving.. beautiful night :) Had to take the photo on my knee, my tripod way in my dad’s car and he was gone! I was surprised it came out this clear. I’m glad it did!
I had just finished my first cup of coffee, Commented on a few pics and decided to go get another cup. When i walked into the kitchen I spotted this. needless to say i dropped the cup and ran for the camera which was at the other end of other house and raced outside housecoat and all. So there i am standing in the middle of the street snapping pics. I actually made one gentleman stop and wait lol. he was laughing as much as i was. I stepped aside waved and smiled a good morning. He mouthed good morning, chuckled again and went on his way. A few more to come
Farming isn’t what it used to be and farmyards such as this one are on the edge of disappearing as newer, larger and more modern corporate family farms take over the landscape in order to preserve farming in a global world. / / /
