I love the different textures and colors this little bud had… it has the same colors as a peacock feather! This was taken with a sigma 105mm macro lens, the bud was tiny about the size of my pinky nail.

A fact never to be underestimated – someone, out there, may still call this their birthplace. It captured my attention while in the car on my way south. A short walk on the gravel road is all it took to reach the old house that parted with its best years sometime in the last millennium. That colour, the textures of decaying wood, rusting roof and the remains of the dead tree, fallen where it lived, still searching with its long fingers for the occupants, long gone. I was mesmerised by the scene. There is something profoundly sad about the remains of buildings, any kind of ruins. Is it because they remind us of the inevitable and our disposability in this world. And all the usual questions: how old is it, who lived in it, and will it make it to the next autumn or even next week? Time to go, I had better move. The sky of ‘I mean business’ colour has been gathering strength for a while. Its forward party already seized the strategic heights from the playful patches of the late afternoon sun. When it hits, it will hit hard. On the way back, just one more look … enough time to take another breath of impressions, to treasure, and an image to share, with you.

Some churches simply have to greatest doors! I found this one with a vivid red door in Cape May, New-Jersey, USA. Simple hardware with a beautiful patina, polished with use, on a plain bright colourful door. Finished in 6th position of Top Ten in the WARM: Reds-Oranges-Yellows challenge of the Simple by Design Group on March 8, 2009 . I saw this old house a week or so ago…........ I looked at it with its weathered appearance and I thought of myself. I could actually see myself in this old house. It was obvious that it has seen better days….........If the walls could talk, no telling what they would tell you. But one thing , and one thing only struck me especially strong about this old place…....... Along with the good times, and the bad, through the storms and weathers of life…...... IT WAS STILL STANDING….......And no matter what, that was what meant the most…...... We CAN TAKE the old times and remember, and we CAN combine them with the new… DO NOT BE AFRAID MY FRIEND, For it is with upmost certainity that I tell you, IT MOLDS YOU AND MAKES YOU WHO YOU ARE TODAY ….......
