3 month old basset hound puppy “Shango”
back in the days before deforestation and widesacle farming had blighted the land, there was a hunter’s paradise of forest and prairie wher the Picts hunted as their fathers had done for millenia. The hunter’s appreciation of form and movement is seen in their stone carvings, which i have rendered here in acrylic paint on wooden board
Digital Art: In Photoshop, I select a blank “canvas”, then select a brush and start painting with my mouse. All my work is done from “scratch” I hope you will like this adorable hound. Again I tried to capture that special look in their eyes. /

Portrait of a guy (Indian or Black American) underlying a bolted frame plate covered in a block print along with surrounding abstract shapes and textures, some flat, some in 3D. A white airbrushed cloud was added to this composition to bring more depth between the shapes also creating a frosty cold air feeling for this black and white image. 1-6-07

This is our puppy Lucy… This shot was taken a couple of days after my shoulder surgery…. I’m sure she’s thinking “Hey it worked for dad! Why shouldn’t I get some of the attention!”
Beagle puppies are among the cutest critters on God’s earth. The Beagle’s soft brown eyes are probably his most appealing feature. One long gaze into the eyes and the potential owner is likely to become an actual owner, for the breed has mastered the trick of looking as if he doesn’t have a friend in the world. The cuteness of Beagle puppies has made them favorites of the pet store trade. However, Beagles are sociable dogs developed to work in packs. If a Beagle becomes an only pet, its family must be prepared to provide a lot of stimulation for the dog to keep him home. Otherwise, his need for companionship and his desire to follow his nose to adventure could lead him to adopt another family, get arrested for running at large, or worse. His wanderlust, need for activity, and loud voice make him unsuitable for sedentary families or for apartments or unfenced yards. And it’s the bay, or half-howl, that causes neighbors to curse the day you bought your pet. Beagles are wonderful in the right home, with the right person or family. If treated right they are one of the most amiable hounds and calm, tractable house pets. They are excellent child’s dogs, gentle, incredibly tolerant and always ready to join in a game or an adventure. Puppy Time Set of Two / ! / / /

The tribute to a gorgeous Basset Hound (Fred) who was my wonderful companion for 9 years. / pix © www.shhevaun.com / 0419363057 All Rights Reserved 2006 Untouched work shot on Nikon D60 (a cheap film SLR) with two studio lights I have a studio in New Farm Brisbane and love shhooting Dogs and their owners! Initially this image was to pay homage to the shot of the bassett with his ears blowing in front of a fan… This shot captured more of Fred’s personality – he liked the breeze but it wasnt letting it move him or those huge heavy ears (btw he weighed 30kgs!)
The Irish Wolfhound is a breed of domestic dog specifically a sighthound. The name originates from its purpose (wolf hunting) rather than from its appearance. Irish Wolfhounds are the tallest dog breed, even though some individual Great Danes have recently been acclaimed “tallest dog.” Irish Wolfhounds are also heavier than Great Danes, though not as heavy as some Mastiffs. The most distinguishing physical feature of the Irish Wolfhound is its great size. Generally breeders aim for a height range of 85 to 90 centimeters (33 to 36 inches) in males, 5 to 10 centimeters (2 to 4 inches) less for females. Generally acceptable weight 46-70kg (101-154lbs). / Irish Wolfhounds are sweet-tempered, patient, generous, thoughtful and can be trusted with children. Dignified and willing, they are unconditionally loyal to their owner and family. Not a guard dog by nature, but may be a deterrent simply due to his size. They tend to greet everyone as a friend, so use of them as watch dogs is not recommended.. Painted in Corel painter using wacom tablet .. photos as reference... Thanks for looking :))
