This is in a secret underground tunnel at the Star Hotel in Echuca, it was used illegally when drinking was outlawed all those years ago.

These were so lovely that coming at them from any new angle gave you an entirely different shot that you just had to take. Someone had obviously stolen the brass rods as you can see from the carpet being bunched here, but thats so very little to worry about when i think about what they could have done here.

The view looking out onto Broad Street from a third-floor window of the Divine Lorraine Hotel in Philadelphia, PA. The hotel, which has been abandoned since the late ‘90s, takes it’s name from the leader of the Universal Peace Mission movement, Father Divine (aka George Baker) who housed his followers on it’s premises. Shot on Fuji Velvia 50 film with a Rolleiflex medium format camera.

Attended the most amazing Rockabilly weekend festival in Las Vegas, and this was the view from the famous Gold Coast Hotel… Thought I died went back in time! Who wouldn’t want to live in that era!

The Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion in (Georgetown, Penang) malaysia the Winner of the UNESCO Conservation Award 2000 National Architecture Award for Conservation 1995. / Also called the blue Mansion. Was the main location for the film ‘Indochine’ featuring Catherine Deneuve. / The Mansion is now also opened as a boutique hotel (where I stayed..). Photo featured in ‘SilverKris’ a Singapore Airline Magazine in Nov 2008 Issue

The Grace Hotel is in York Street, Sydney. It was built in 1930 in the Neo Gothic style, was renovated to be a landmark hotel, and is Heritage Listed. I shot it on Sunday, 18 January 2009, at around 7.30am, from across the street. The rising sun was directly in front. The sky was shot from my front balcony on Friday, 16 January 2009, at around 6.30am. The 2 images were then merged in Photoshop CS2. On both occasions I used my Canon EOS 5D Mark II, handheld, and Canon EF 24-70mm f2.8L zoom lens. The building, which I have been wanting to shoot for a long time, was shot at 51mm, ISO 50 (for the detail), 1/100 sec at f4, in Monochrome, on the way home from another shoot. The conditions were perfect and the sky was clear. The sky was shot at 24mm, ISO 160, 1/4000 sec at f3.2, also in Monochrome. Featured by the Sydney Group 21 October 2009 Best viewed large

Old hospital building on an active campus, one of the most beautifully haunting scenes I have been lucky to stumble upon Pentax K100D Super 18-55 Kit lens… F/8 and I believe 15 seconds. Nope don’t need expensive equiptment to capture a good shot. Sold a Greeting card as of 8/13/09 Thank you to whoever bought it :) Featured in LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS and Prisons, Gaols, Jails, Asylums, Iron Bars & Court Houses

This State Hospital was established in its present location in 1901 as a farm colony for “chronic insane patients”. By 1945 the number of patients had risen to 1,730, with a total staff of 250 with 241 vacancies. By this time the institution had grown to 1,200 acres with buildings scattered widely over an area covering three towns. After 72 years of operation the Hospital was closed in 1973 as the first of a series of institutions to close in its state. The campus is now occupied by a University , a Job Corps Program, and various state agencies. Most structures have been renovated and altered for re-use, some have been demolished. A graveyard remains on a nearby hilltop with 1,041 numbered, nameless graves of persons who died in this institution. A handwritten list of their names survives in various archives.
