  • My horse riding incident (An account) by Anthony Hedger
    by Anthony Hedger

    Well I looked at the faces looking back at me including Thunder Clap who seem to be feeling sorry for me by now,

    Something VERY different for you this time and you’ll see why as you read on. Apologies to anyone of you who has read this before because a few of you have seen it but it makes me laugh every time I read it so it may just do the same to you, who knows? But isn’t laughter great? I wanted to call this piece: ‘My horse riding experience’ but opted instead to rename it to: ‘My horse riding incident’ you’ll see why. Enjoy.

  • First Love ♥ Horses
    by adgray

    How do I explain the first time I experienced feeling absolute bliss?

    Yet another clear memory that I hold dear / Again when I asked my parents they were stunned at my ability to remember something from such a young age. I was 5 months old! When we were young, our neighbour’s daughter would bring her show horse to town some weekends and for the Royal Melbourne Show in September. As they had a pool in their yard she would bring it to graze in our back yard. While it did that we children were allowed to “Ride” him, a huge bay gelding thoroughbred! This memory was of the first time I was given a ride … apparently I sat up there for over an hour and everytime they tried to take me off I would scream “No” and kick my heels and the horse would dance away and then I would laugh! Mum and dad had been terrified I would drop off but I never did! / Since then never am I more centred and completely happy unless I am on the back of a horse! / ♥ {This is part of an autobiographical collection}

    I love Billy’s Work.. This photo in particular always seems to draw me back to it time and time again. I don’t seem to be able to break down in words via critique of my fascination for this piece. Leave it to Billy to shoot this not only for the contrasting elements but for the story that is presented here in one of his favorite towns called Algarve. / Thank you again Billy for the inspiring work you bring to my heart. Lucky has been there for me through so many life events, joyous and painful. Lucky has known the best of times, when I hopped on bareback and twirled my fingers through his mane, and the worst of times, when his mane dried my tears. I can’t take Lucky with me everywhere I go, but he is always with me in spirit (and I usually have some of his hair with me too!) This is Lucky’s mane (my security blanket): and this is Lucky’s portrait:

  • Dust Devil's Dance
    by GuyAmazed

    We matched riding rhythms more like different parts of the same body than rider & ridden. We enjoyed each other’s company from the get go.

    Given time and the right associations things often work themselves out, but that’s another story.
