  • My horse riding incident (An account) by Anthony Hedger
    by Anthony Hedger

    Well I looked at the faces looking back at me including Thunder Clap who seem to be feeling sorry for me by now,

    Something VERY different for you this time and you’ll see why as you read on. Apologies to anyone of you who has read this before because a few of you have seen it but it makes me laugh every time I read it so it may just do the same to you, who knows? But isn’t laughter great? I wanted to call this piece: ‘My horse riding experience’ but opted instead to rename it to: ‘My horse riding incident’ you’ll see why. Enjoy.

I don’t seem to be able to break down in words via critique of my fascination for this piece. • First Love ♥ Horses
    by adgray

    How do I explain the first time I experienced feeling absolute bliss?

    Yet another clear memory that I hold dear / Again when I asked my parents they were stunned at my ability to remember something from such a young age. I was 5 months old! When we were young, our neighbour’s daughter would bring her show horse to town some weekends and for the Royal Melbourne Show in September. As they had a pool in their yard she would bring it to graze in our back yard. While it did that we children were allowed to “Ride” him, a huge bay gelding thoroughbred! This memory was of the first time I was given a ride … apparently I sat up there for over an hour and everytime they tried to take me off I would scream “No” and kick my heels and the horse would dance away and then I would laugh! Mum and dad had been terrified I would drop off but I never did! / Since then never am I more centred and completely happy unless I am on the back of a horse! / ♥ {This is part of an autobiographical collection}

  • Dusty Trails
    by Simone Byrne

    I love the smell of Summer, all the essence that it brings, / And the magic that it oozes as the season first begins… read on…

    © Simone Byrne 15th June, 1996. / All Rights Reserved. Back before I was a photographer my artistic endeavors were more slanted towards writing poetry, Aussie bush poetry to be precise. For me it was a way of remembering the good times I spent with my horses riding through the bush as I was growing up. Hope you enjoy the yarns, of course you realize that the more outrageous the tale, the more the likely hood of it being true! This poem is written about the joy of riding my gorgeous Thoroughbred boy Ringo through the Aussie bush in the late 80’s. Even now more than 20 years on, I still think back fondly to these times and I can still smell the dust and bush fragrances and feel the wind in my face. Ahh, that was life!!
