During World War II, 1,200 Trakehners, out of 25,000 registered in the East Prussian studbook, were trekked 900 miles across Europe to prevent them from falling into Soviet hands. Using this nucleus, German breeders have been able to preserve the breed. / It originated in the 13th century studs of the Teutonic Knights, in what used to be East Prussia. They used indigenous Schweiken ponies, descendants of the Tarpan, as a base. The Royal Trakehner Stud was founded by Friedrich Wilhelm I of Prussia in 1732, and aimed to produce active coach horses. • The Phantom Horsewoman. by Thomas Hardy Queer are the ways of a man I know: / He comes and stands / In a careworn craze, / And looks at the sands / And in the seaward haze / With moveless hands / And face and gaze, / Then turns to go… / And what does he see when he gazes so? They say he sees as an instant thing / More clear than today, / A sweet soft scene / That once was in play / By that briny green; / Yes, notes alway / Warm, real, and keen, / What his back years bring- / A phantom of his own figuring. Of this vision of his they might say more: / Not only there / Does he see this sight, / But everywhere / In his brain-day, night, / As if on the air / It were drawn rose bright- / Yea, far from that shore / Does he carry this vision of heretofore: A ghost-girl-rider. And though, toil-tried, / He withers daily, / Time touches her not, / But she still rides gaily / In his rapt thought / On that shagged and shaly / Atlantic spot, / And as when first eyed / Draws rein and sings to the swing of the tide. • Taken at Appleby Horse Fair, after swimming across a deep pool in the river, the horse has just touched the bottom again and is trying to jump out of the water. Extra Note about the day, My daughter & 2 of her friends (all 15 year olds) went with me one year. The horses are brought down to the river to be washed and have fun in the water. The girls just stood around near the access point hoping to get involved, well this gypsy owner came down with 5 horses, looked at the girls keen faces and said take them in for me, so they jumped at the chance. All their clothes on straight in, it’s about 30cm deep at the access point then as you ride them round to the start of the deep hole, its 1m deep. Swimming across the deep hole gets them soaked up to the neck and more if you fall off. A fantastic time was had by them all, they were in the river for 2 hours but would not come out even though they were freezing. Lucky a said bring some spare clothes just in case you get to have a go.

  • Pastel on black Canson paper 75cmx54cm 1999 / Collection of the artist This painting won several awards at shows & was also featured in a special exhibition at the Manning Regional Gallery ‘TRAPPINGS OF THE HORSE” (July 1999) / celebrating the finest craftwork & art associated with the Horse Industry in NSW. I had received an invitation from the / gallery to be part of the exhibition & I submitted two paintings- / this one & “Blazing Saddles.” The Tobiano Paint Horse can be any colour with white & refers to the location of the white markings. Head markings will usually be marked like a solid-coloured horse, either solid or having a blaze, stripe, race or star & snip. All four legs will be white, usually below the hocks & knees. Body markings are usually regular & distinct, often being oval or round patterns that extend down over the neck & chest giving the appearance of a shield. The Tobiano Paint will usually have the dark colour in one or both flanks & maybe either predominantly dark or white. • What summer means to me is escaping civilization, after being cooped up and snowed in for months, and camping out as long as possible (usually until more snow forces us back indoors). If I wasn’t able to spend some of my summer in the woods, I think I’d go crazy. I need the complete quiet of nature to recharge my batteries and make me more pleasant to be around. This was taken in the Great Bear Wilderness in Northwestern Montana. 8-7-09, featured in the UNITED STATES Group. / 9-18-09, featured in the UNITED STATES Group. / 9-21-09, featured in the TOP SHELF WILDLIFE AND NATURE ART Group.

  • The Last Goodnight – Pictures of You —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— / Today l Cry You sit alone and wait for day / Wondering what may come / You try to block what they say / But the only thing left to do is run They say things you don’t want to hear / Just a fragment of the truth / All mumbled it is to much to bare / In reality its just self abuse But somewhere in the darkened void / A piece of you still survives / But brutally attacked everyday / By the visitors in your mind So the way to freedom seems so clear / The help its in the pack / Take them all and slip away / A few hours peace then bring you back The white light seems so silky / As the darkness fades away / You no longer hear the whispers / Your fears you can keep at bay But then it all comes flooding back / The noise it does return / Talking, yelling ,screaming flack / In a language mean’t to burn We want to help, to see your pain / To understand what its like / But when we try they block our way / They keep us in full sight So everyday is one more battle / Your family watch in vain / And hope to one day get you back / From the demons in your brain ~ Trudi 09 ~ Living alongside Schizophrenia not an easy road when you are battling more than one ….......... • A wonderful Sunday was spent with neighbors on their Christmas Tree Farm in Maine. The Richards family provide “cut your own” service and also wagon rides pulled by their draft horses, Mark and Luke. Their friends Charlie Putnam and his son Chad also come for these special weekends with their teams. Charlie ’s team, Charlie and King are the oldest among the three teams and Chad’s, Charlie and Merle, are the youngest at 3 years. / There was sunshine all around as the happy friendly family provided great Christmas cheer to the happy and content tree “shoppers”... There are appointed “cutters” to provide help with a chore that we normally don’t do today. / Excited children ran over here and there shouting, “come see this one Daddy”!!!! lol Such fun!!!! The first pic is of Chad and his Charlie and Merle… sweet faces and delightful animals. ! The above pic is of the warming hut, for the “tree cutting crew”!!! An old ice fishing shack, it is perfect on those very cold days. / This is a beautiful daughter, Cary Ann, all dressed in red!!!! She helps in the wreath shop and is a lovely welcome for all who come to the farm!!!! / ! ! !

This is a composite work layered and textured with all my own work thanks for looking xx
