  • Chalk pastels on black paper / Used Lance Leopold’s photograph as reference.

  • Water colour ~ I love horses and although I only keep them for pleasure and friendship, my parents were involved in racing for a number of years. In 1978 their horse Arwon won the Melbourne Cup, which, of course, was the ultimate thrill for race horse owners in Australia. /

  • At the Tolaga Bay Beach Races, Kaiaua Beach, New Zealand

  • Original made with cut up images and glued down on a board / 150×100 cm / This kind of work it takes for ever to make as I had to search for the right tones and shapes and textures among the images i had to cut up , the orignal was just one head of a horse , later i made this art work of 3 with the help of copying it digitally , great as a canvas print.

  • Taken at Southwell Races, Nottinghamshire, UK. Best viewed large.

  • Pastel work on pale blue colorfix pastel paper. I started this with a cheap box of soft pastels then discovered some much better quality pastels (Unison) and was pleased with their smoothness, I more or less re-did it. I have put this back on my easel and altered it slightly since I first posted it. This painting is a bit raw, but I kinda liked it that way. What do you think?

  • I was a young fashion photographer’s assistant who had also photographed racehorses trained by my father. ITV heard the story and wanted to interview me with pictures of girls and horses. In this picture shot for Biba’s, a world famous boutique in Kensington High Street in the 60’s, I decided to combine them both. I borrowed the 20mm lens and the 250 exposure back from my boss, John Cowan, whose studio was used in the 1966 cult film Blow-Up and set off for Sussex. The 20mm lens had only just been introduced and was the first of it’s kind. • The wild horses running for the water hole. When the horses start running like this they only have one thing on their mind…...WATER! As soon as I seen they were starting to run off I knew right where they were headed. I made it back to my truck and headed off to the watering hole. I had to get around the mountain to get there, and they were going through the mountain. So it was race to see if I could get there in time. When I made it to the watering hole the first band had already been and was headed back. The second band was on their way in. They all came in and got their drinks. Just as fast as they had come in they were heading out.
