This is my entry for the Photoshop Creative competition / Digital Mixed Media. Mostly done in Photoshop CS2. A touch of Corel Painter and Apophysis 2.0. This image is composed of digital painting, a few fractals, and several photographs added for texture. I hope you all like it because I’ve been working on it for most of this week :). / This is the first I’ve completed in a new series: The Elijah Series. This image represents the chariot of fire. You can read about it here: 2 Kings 2:7-12. There is so much going on in this image so I’ll help you out: The Chariot driven by some sort of Angelic being is in the center of the image while the horses of fire are at the bottom, very front of the image. The blazing light of Heaven is in the very back. Basically, the sky has opened up and the Chariot of Fire is coming down from Heaven to separate Elisha and Elijah. The whirlwind that takes Elijah up into Heaven will be the next image I do in this series. Thank you for looking!

During World War II, 1,200 Trakehners, out of 25,000 registered in the East Prussian studbook, were trekked 900 miles across Europe to prevent them from falling into Soviet hands. Using this nucleus, German breeders have been able to preserve the breed. / It originated in the 13th century studs of the Teutonic Knights, in what used to be East Prussia. They used indigenous Schweiken ponies, descendants of the Tarpan, as a base. The Royal Trakehner Stud was founded by Friedrich Wilhelm I of Prussia in 1732, and aimed to produce active coach horses. 9×12 watercolor enhanced colored pencil. / The black Friesian is a coldblood horse of ancient origin. In its own land it arouses much the same admiration, and even adulation, as that given to the massive Shire horse in Britain. Although it is ridden and displays great agility under saddle, the modern Friesian excels as an impressive, free-moving harness horse. It’s temperament and appearance made it popular with circus trainers, and its presence and color ensure a market for it in the funeral business. / The Friesian, which descends from the “primitive” Forest Horse of Euopre, is bred principally in Friesland on the northern Netherlands coast. I saw a picture in a magazine of two girls riding their horses on the beach. I was inspired by the power and movement of the pic and wanted to draw it. So, here is the finished result. / Pastel painting on grey pastel paper. Size – 48cm x 68cm. 2007. Original for sale.

Oils on stretched canvas 1.02mx1.02m 2004 / Collection of the artist. This painting represents my interpretation of the Celtic Horse Goddess, Epona – a blending of the feminine within what appears to be a masculine horse, the woman’s silhouette in black combined with the white of the horse, yin & yang. Her hand & hair flow into the mane like tree roots, she is part of the earth, yet also the air – mythical, magical yet also a part of Mother Nature. Look on top of the mountain – for the snowline is in the shape of a horse lying on its side. My inspiration for this painting was my love of coloured horses, actually one of my own blue-eyed Paints. No two Paint Horses are alike, each has it’s own unique colour & pattern. Often where the hair colours meet the markings will have an outline which is known as a ‘watermark’. This one is grey – (black blended into white). In Paint Horse terms the above horse would be called a ‘splash white overo.’ This painting won a Highly Commended & two People’s Choice awards. / Featured in SIMPLY HORSES GROUP – December 2008 / Featured in THE DIVINE FEMININE GROUP – May 2009 / Top Ten in Elemental Goddess Challenge THE DIVINE FEMINE GROUP – May 2009 / Featured in ALL THOSE COLOURFUL PAINTS & PINTOS – June 2009 / Featured in OIL PAINTING GROUP – August 2009 / Top Ten in Most Creative Painted Ladies Challenge – PAINTED LADIES GROUP – September 2009

Pastel on black Canson paper 75cmx54cm 1999 / Collection of the artist This painting won several awards at shows & was also featured in a special exhibition at the Manning Regional Gallery ‘TRAPPINGS OF THE HORSE” (July 1999) / celebrating the finest craftwork & art associated with the Horse Industry in NSW. I had received an invitation from the / gallery to be part of the exhibition & I submitted two paintings- / this one & “Blazing Saddles.” The Tobiano Paint Horse can be any colour with white & refers to the location of the white markings. Head markings will usually be marked like a solid-coloured horse, either solid or having a blaze, stripe, race or star & snip. All four legs will be white, usually below the hocks & knees. Body markings are usually regular & distinct, often being oval or round patterns that extend down over the neck & chest giving the appearance of a shield. The Tobiano Paint will usually have the dark colour in one or both flanks & maybe either predominantly dark or white. Quick tonal study, oil painting. Diana-Lee Saville kindly nominated this painting to be added to the Pay-It-Forward Group. The nomination has been accepted which is a huge compliment to my work. I haven’t learned this guy’s name yet because there are three horses at Ten Oaks from the same “family.” The barn owner owns one of them and a boarder owns the other two. All are spotted and look so much alike but I’m sure I’ll eventually learn to tell them apart. This one especially since he’s a bit of ham and camera hog:-) /

Impressionist, painterly / Two boys doing what they do best in the rain. Originally impressionism was that the colour should be dropped pure on the canvas rather than mixed on the palette. Today, now that we have so many new paints and mediums to work with, while the original concept of impressionism remains the same, styles and techniques have evolved. / My style of Impressionism embraces traditional painting. It is the evolution of impressionism that i am hoping to achieve, from the original traditional techniques of impressionist painting all the way to this modern impressionist digital art which can be stylized and painterly depending on my subject and mood. My work is hand painted digital painting and is an emerging art form in which traditional painting techniques such as watercolor, oils, etc. are applied using digital tools by means of a computer, a digitizing tablet and stylus, and software. Digital painting differs from other forms of digital art, particularly computer-generated art, in that it does not involve the computer rendering from a model. The artist uses painting techniques to create the digital painting directly on the computer. / I create the painting, directly on my PC, by using a Wacom tablet, a stylus pen and ArtRage painting software. The Wacom tablet can be compared to a canvas or watercolor paper surface. The stylus pen is my paintbrush.
