Horses are very protective of one another, especially when their is impending danger or bad weather. (General rule is Fight or Flight, 99% of the time its flight for horses) These spanish arabs here give the feel of siblings, both young, inexperienced, learning the way of life in the wild. Our wild horses are at the center of tremendous controversy, as the government agency whose purpose is to protect the herds, announced that they have run out of funds for maintaining more than 33,000 captive horses—and one “solution” was mass “euthanasia”. Recently, the BLM proposed eliminating eleven wild horse areas from the Ely, NV District. All 620 horses in this area would be permanently removed from their natural environment, purportedly blamed for “environmental damage”. Olympia, Washington Driving home from town, I saw this mare with her foal grazing out in the field. What a beautiful picture they made as I watched them. They came over to the fence to greet me and my Spring day became one to remember. I had given up doing artwork seriously for many years and this was my first artwork that I completed after I decided to go back to my arts roots and I quit my day job and became a full time artist / designer.
