Several photos taken of my hand, merged using photoshop has created a final piece i used for an exam at A level.
A set of urinals in a derelict office building
This picture was taken at a local morturary last year. Each of the American flags represented the life of a Lost one in 9-11. It was absolutely breath taking to see. Here’s a little poem I wrote on 06/20/08 9/11 I woke up this morning to the sounds of hysteria! / I heard people screaming in the other room, / “We’re being attacked! Everyone wake up!” / I laid in this unfamiliar bed for several moments, listening. / I didn’t hear bombs dropping, / So I went back to sleep! / Little did I know, / This would be the biggest day of my life! As I got out of this unfamiliar bed, / And went out into the other room, / I saw a building collapse on the TV. / Before I could say, / “Wow that was cool!” / I realized this was no movie, or TV Show! / This was reality! A sense of supreme insecurity, / Invaded over my body! / I couldn’t think, or speak! / I sat there in shock, / Just starring at the TV. / The only thought, / Which crossed my mind was, / “What The Fuck Just Happened?” I realized this was not another ordinary day. / This was a day that would go down in History, / As one of the worst days for the US! / From this point forward, / Things were going to change! / As they had to! The President was not heard from until much later in the day! / His words of Power, and brute force, / Brought a little relief! / What could not be relieved, / Were the thousands of innocent lives lost on that dreadful day! / Human beings of different races and religions. / Latinos, Caucasians, Blacks, Middle Eastern, Christian, Catholic, Jewish, Protestant, Muslim, Mothers Fathers, Brothers, Sisters, Sons, Daughters, / All gone, / It made no difference! / They continued on with their destructive plan! 9-11. / A day, which will never be forgotten! / Some may never heal from this horrible tragedy! / While the rest of the world has moved on, / Our economy, / And sense of Security demolished! / People will still feel the suffering in this nation, / All throughout Bush’s Presidency! / As some people ask why, / I’m already out for revenge!
I loath clowns yet somehow one crept in! Hand drawn on A2 paper with a G-Tec C4 0.4 pen, the drawn line is 0.2mm. This one was finished within a month for me that is almost fast.

I wanted to do an image that symbolizes the Victorian bushfires that started on Saturday the 7th of February 2009, but I didn’t want this image to be sad (although we all know how devastating it has been), I wanted this image to be about the loss, the lives saved, how Australians came together and the growth to come. The Bird symbolizes all the lives that were saved, but this bird has no nest, so it also symbolizes all the homes that were lost and the nothingness some of these people now feel. The Birds claw clinging onto the tree branch is there to symbolize the fire fighters thoughts of hanging in there, and putting all these fires out. The Heart is there to symbolize all the heart ache and love, which us Australians have felt and will never forget. The Flower is there to symbolize all the help, support, donations and everything that us Australians have given to those affected, just to let them know that they have got support, and us Aussies are all here to help. The Music symbols are there to symbolize (all the lives lost) all the spirits flying up into the sky. The Leafs symbolize the growth to come, with rebuilding these affected communities. And I did not want an actual image of a fire in my design, so the swirls of the bird’s tail are there to symbolize the raging fire that affected so many. Inside the heart there are a few words i put in using photoshop. /

I ended up donating $630 for the bush fire appeal, from 2 paintings i auctioned and a couple of T’s :o)
Selfportrait
A few days ago Shelly Hiebert asked for us to post a self-portrait, so that we can emerge from behind the camera and others can learn a little more about the shooter. Well, I learnt how incredibly difficult it is to take a decent self-portrait. I think I finally got one I don’t mind sharing, it depicts a day in my life that will haunt me forever. Taken with Nikon D300, Sigma 28mm f/2.8 MF lens and SB800. If you would like to participate in this challenge, please follow this link

We like to wear this t-shirt while we’re putting together our walking tours and other cool things for our readership. It is, I dare say, almost a uniform. You’re welcome to buy it though. Go on.
Twenty years ago, a tragic accident sent 35 people plunging to their deaths. Lerro, 37, an experienced harbor pilot from Tampa, shouldered the responsibility of guiding the Summit Venture from the Gulf of Mexico 58.4 miles up Tampa Bay to the Port of Tampa. It is one of the longest shipping channels in the world, and one of the most treacherous, given the shallow waters of the bay and the ambush style of Florida weather. With the ship’s belly empty of cargo and her tanks nearly empty of ballast, she rode high in the water. She ran through intermittent fog and rain along the first 19 miles of her journey. Then southwest winds exploded to tropical-storm force. Rain sheeted at rates exceeding 7 inches an hour. Visibility plunged to near zero, and shipboard radar failed. It couldn’t have happened at a worse point. Lerro faced the most critical course change of the run, a 13-degree turn that would take him between the two main piers of the Skyway bridge. It was at almost this exact spot that the Coast Guard cutter Blackthorn had been rammed four months earlier by the tanker Capricorn. The Blackthorn sank. Twenty-three men died. Lerro approached the critical bend on a ship weighing nearly 20,000 tons battered by winds of nearly 60 mph. And he approached it blind…..... The horror in Lerro’s voice is painful to hear Lerro: Mayday! Mayday! Mayday! Coast Guard. Mayday! Mayday! Mayday! Coast Guard. Coast Guard: Vessel calling Mayday, vessel in distress. This is the United States Coast Guard, St. Petersburg, Florida. Request your position, the nature of distress and the number of persons on board. Over. Lerro: Get emergency . . . all the emergency equipment out to the Skyway bridge. Vessel has just hit the Skyway bridge. The Skyway bridge is down! Get all emergency equipment out to the Skyway bridge. The Skyway bridge is down. This is Mayday. Emergency situation. (Nearly screaming) Stop the traffic on that Skyway bridge!” CG: This is Coast Guard St. Petersburg, roger. What size is the vessel that hit the bridge? Over. Lerro: It’s a large vessel. Stop the traffic on the Skyway bridge. There’s some people in the water. Get emergency equipment out to the Skyway bridge. Now. CG: This is the Coast Guard, St. Petersburg. Roger. What vessel are you on? Over. Lerro: Summit Venture. Summit Venture. CG: Summit Venture, Coast Guard St. Petersburg, roger. What is the size of your vessel and can you assist? Over. Lerro: Cannot assist. We’re 606 feet long, light draft. We cannot assist here. We’re on an abutment. Stop all the traffic on the bridge. Send some vessels out here to render assistance. People are in the water…..... Source
