I love hornets, I don’t like being around them but I’ve always thought that there are much worse jobs if you have to be reincarnated as an insect. / Nobody messes with a hornet. I was thinking of the Book of Kells when I got the idea for this. I worked for about a month burying small details in it so it’d be a decent conversation piece. Image copyright © 2008 Simon Deevy. Image captured during the Open House at the Navy Dare Bombing Range near Wanchese, NC. The entire day was simply incredible, the best birthday I ever had. The F/A-18 pilots where bombing targets near a mock Iraqi City. Since they had an Open House, the tower would request that if the pilots had a little fuel to spare, if they wouldn’t mind to do a couple of extra passes for the spectators. Some of them literally put on a private airshow for us. It was awesome! Added little bonus in this shot is the commercial aircraft at high altitude visible near the 3 sensors (right side of the image).

A composite of an airshow picture and a recent harvest moon. I don’t normally do composites but I guess a change is as good as a rest. LOL. I’d like to do a sacred ibis against that moon – I have one so i’ll try that next. Let me know what you think when/if you view this one. You might like to compare this one to my other – Sacred Night http://www.redbubble.com/people/lightsmith/art/183121-1-sacred-night Creation Information

Another of those click!-and run situations… I’m allergic to their venom, but couldn’t resist the temptation of taking a few shots.

My original is graphite pencil on watercolour paper. Been sitting on it for a while and finally gotten around to putting him on a shirt. You won’t see it even in larger view, but every part is triangulated, as in an architectural spaceframe.

Well, I’m rather proud of this bug shot. I have been trying to capture a bug for sometime now with no luck and although this isn’t that great compared to others I’ve seen, I felt it was good enough to put up on the site. I’m not sure which insect this is, one of the ones that sting is the only thing I do know.

This bug shot turned out rather well too. Like the other one I put up, this isn’t as great as some I have seen on here but for my first time capturing a bug macro I don’t think it’s too bad. By the way, I actually said the title to the bug when I was trying to capture it LOL
