A small child and the imagination

When I saw this quotation on a church marquee, I thought immediately of this photo of a goldfinch on a Y-shaped branch and I realized the double meaning in the message. God is here when we wonder WHY and have no answers; God is here on those days that end in the letter Y—which is everyday. He’s here through our ordinary and extraordinary times, through our pain and our pleasure, through good times and bad. He is not a fickle God but One who is longsuffering and never abandons the children he created and loves. Jesus is called “Emmanuel” which means God is with us (on all our WHY?/Y days).

The sunset colours, / the setting of the sun indicating an end to the unfathomable 2009 fires of black Saturday. The tall trees with limbs represent the entire families taken, / the saplings the young lives cut short. The child represents our hope, / the single leaf the renewable nature of our botany.
