A small child and the imagination
When I saw this quotation on a church marquee, I thought immediately of this photo of a goldfinch on a Y-shaped branch and I realized the double meaning in the message. God is here when we wonder WHY and have no answers; God is here on those days that end in the letter Y—which is everyday. He’s here through our ordinary and extraordinary times, through our pain and our pleasure, through good times and bad. He is not a fickle God but One who is longsuffering and never abandons the children he created and loves. Jesus is called “Emmanuel” which means God is with us (on all our WHY?/Y days).

“Do not remember the former things, / Nor consider the things of old. / Behold, I will do a new thing, / Now it shall spring forth; / Shall you not know it? / I will even make a road in the wilderness / And rivers in the desert.” / ~Isaiah 43:18,19 “A Heart To Receive” is about a heart fully surrendered to God’s Will which means it is ready to accept God’s blessing in whatever capacity or means by which it can be achieved. It is about throwing away the past and embracing the future hope that the Lord has provided. Out from the heart flows the waters of forgiveness, and Grace is next in line waiting her turn. The sunset colours, / the setting of the sun indicating an end to the unfathomable 2009 fires of black Saturday. The tall trees with limbs represent the entire families taken, / the saplings the young lives cut short. The child represents our hope, / the single leaf the renewable nature of our botany. THE PROMISE / Best viewed large. / / The Frenchman Joseph Permet-Ducher is credited with the first discovery of yellow roses around the 18th century. After approximately 20 years of attempting to breed a hearty yellow rose and “THE PROMISE” to create one, Joseph stumbled upon a mutant yellow rose in a field. With this specimen, he was able to duplicate its structure and create the first yellow roses! / / A beautiful interpretation of yellow roses is the notion of renewal; yellow roses are a perfect way to apologize and to make amends. A bouquet of yellow roses reflects calm contentment, undying love, and comfort. Yellow roses tell a spouse or partner that you value them everyday and that you see them as the fulfillment of your needs. This flower and color are aptly associated with wedding anniversaries, especially for the fifteenth year of marriage. / / Nothing conveys real love, companionship, renewal, reconciliation, and friendship quite like yellow roses. These flowers stand alone in their meanings and serve a beautiful purpose for communicating messages of hope and “THE PROMISE” of love with the utmost sincerity. / BETTE MIDLER:THE ROSE Some say love, it is a river / that drowns the tender reed. / Some say love, it is a razor / that leaves your soul to bleed. / Some say love, it is a hunger, / an endless aching need. / I say love, it is a flower, / and you it’s only seed. It’s the heart afraid of breaking / that never learns to dance. / It’s the dream afraid of waking / that never takes the chance. / It’s the one who won’t be taken, / who cannot seem to give, / and the soul afraid of dyin’ / that never learns to live. When the night has been too lonely / and the road has been to long, / and you think that love is only / for the lucky and the strong, / just remember in the winter / far beneath the winter snows / lies the seed that with the sun’s love / in the spring becomes the rose.
