  • When I was teaching high school English, Emily Dickinson’s poem about HOPE was one of my all-time favorites. The great American poet compares hope to a little bird that never stops singing, even during the most turbulent storms, yet demands nothing from the one it encourages. In the present day when despair and doubts abound, this little poem from the past makes a welcome comeback. I took the photo of the Carolina wren as it perched jauntily on a branch near my patio. I love the wren because, in spite of its small size, it has a mighty song. I think it’s a fitting image to couple with Emily Dickinson’s poem. May the picture and the poetry bring hope your way! (The photo is also available without the poem. Just let me know if you’d like that instead.)

  • The memorial is located near the Brandenburg Gate. It was built between 2003 and 2005 according to a design by architect Peter Eisenman. This design represents a radical approach to the traditional concept of a memorial, partly because he does not use any symbolism. The grid pattern, consisting of 2711 concrete stelae, which can be walked through from all sides, leaves it up to the visitors to find their own way in and out of the complex.

  • As I awoke one dreary day I looked around to my dismay / The sun was hiding beneath the clouds / The wind howled ceaselessly / It looked to be another day to simply meld into the next / The cold wind chilled my bones and left frost upon my dress / But somethin else was in the air / a vibe I could not place / Somethin was enticing me without words or smell or taste / So out we went into the world to seek what we could find / And halfway thru our journey we gasped in our delight / For all around us we were blessed, as far as the eye could see / Butterfliez in all their magick / dancing in the breeze… All work (including images, and writings) copyright dimarie painter / / Click here for work details and credits if any apply… / Click on any category above for that genre… or / Click here to go back to my profile page ... thanx :)

  • For the longest time it was hard to be me / ostracised and critisised, abused beat down and victimised / A lifetime, a few, of being one who / would take the crap… / Now its different, Now I’m sane / I will not go to that dark place again / Will not bow down and just accept the pain / I will not go back / I will not surrender / I’ll learn to live with all I remember / Cherish those few moments that were tender / And I’ll live / No longer am I a victim / No more am I their toy / I hold my head up high each day / I’ve found true love and a better way / And I will live / I will know joy / I’ll go on to give my child love and care / Show her there is hope out there / To bring her happiness I’ve never known / To provide for us a happy home / I know to be untainted and unbroken once more / would take a miracle I know for sure / But I’m okay with myself these days / with my place in the world / and my foot in the door / Because I now have hope / I now have love / and I dont really need much else at all… / -dimarie created in ps / layering, dodging, burning, stars… / poem written by me thankyou for taking the time to view my art and (hopefully) comment… / please have a look at my other artwork… / hope you enjoy! :) /

  • I dreamt of you before we met / I willed you with all my heart / to seek me out from the cold and wet / and shelter me from the dark / It took so long to find you / and Life, she took her toll / and the pure heart that was meant for you / was wounded to the soul / But Life she had not spared you a fall / before we met you’d suffered it all / And so there we were, each in this world alone / destined to meet and create a home / destined to learn to love once more / but more truly and deeply and with all of our souls / Over the years you have healed my heart / more than you ever will know / you may roll your eyes at my affection / but I know it does strike home / I see the way you look at me / when you think my mind’s elsewhere / I see the smile dancing in your eyes / when you forget yourself and stare / I hear the purring escape your lips / when you embrace me close / when we kiss / I know your heart / I know you / We were meant to be I know its true / So nevermind the roses, and chocolates and all that jazz / material possessions come and go / Its our love that always lasts / You have given me the greatest gift anybodies known / You have fathered me our daughter and created for us / a safe happy Home… thankyou for taking the time to view my art and (hopefully) comment… / please have a look at my other artwork… / hope you enjoy! :) /

  • FAITHFUL IS HE WHO HAS PROMISED [poem by Annie Johnson Flint] / Are you passing through a testing. Is your pillow wet with tears? Do you wonder what the reason, Why it seems God never hears? Why it is you have no answer To your oft, repeated plea, Why the heaven still is leaden As you wait on bended knee? Do you wonder as you suffer, Whether God does understand, And if so, why He ignores you, Fails to hold you in His Hand? / Do black doubts creep in, assail you, Fears without—and fears within, Till your brave heart almost falters And gives way to deadly sin? All God’s testings have a purpose, Someday you will see the light. All He asks is that you trust Him, Walk by faith and not by sight. / Do not fear when doubts beset you, Just remember – He is near; He will never, never leave you, He will always, always hear. Faithful is He who has promised, He will never let you fall, Daily will the strength be given Strength for each and strength for all. / He will gladly share pain with you, He will gladly give you peace. Till your tired and weary body Finds its blessed, glad release. When the darkened veil is lifted, Then, dear heart, you’ll understand Why it is you had to suffer, Why you could not feel His hand Giving strength when it was needed, Giving power and peace within. Giving joy thru tears and trial, Giving victory over sin. So till then just keep on trusting, Thru the sunshine and the rain. [Heb. 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)]

  • In time when everything seems useless / And we don’t have any purpose for life / Over black heap of troubles one tiny thread holding us. This thread called HOPE / And we want to believe so much / That this thread will not brake and life will continue… New Day will come… Featured in the Group Feminine Intent June 21, 2009 /Canon 400D – 2.8 100 mm Canon Macro Lens/

  • The power of night is fading / All is still as she waits / A new day is dawning / She breathes The lightest breeze / The coolest touch, a sigh / A soft light begins to swell / It will be soon, she can tell As ancient as days / A lark begins to sing / It sings of many mornings / Those gone and those to come / And creation breathes The dawn is breaking / Her waiting is over / Hope arises with the sun / A new day has begun By Lallymac Spain 2008

  • /beautiful song If You’re Not The One performed by Daniel Bedingfield/ If you’re not the one then why does my soul feel glad today? / If you’re not the one then why does my hand fit yours this way? / If you are not mine then why does your heart return my call? / If you are not mine would I have the strength to stand at all? I never know what the future brings / But I know you are here with me now / We’ll make it through / And I hope you are the one I share my life with If I don’t need you then why am I crying on my bed? / If I don’t need you then why does your name resound in my head? / If you’re not for me then why does this distance maim my life? / If you’re not for me then why do I dream of you as my wife? I don’t know why you’re so far away / But I know that this much is true / We’ll make it through / And I hope you are the one I share my life with / And I wish that you could be the one I die with / And I’m praying you’re the one I build my home with / I hope I love you all my life I don’t wanna run away but I can’t take it, I don’t understand / If I’m not made for you then why does my heart tell me that I am / Is there any way that I can stay in your arms? ‘Cause I miss you, body and soul so strong that it takes my breath away / And I breathe you into my heart and pray for the strength to stand today / ‘Cause I love you, whether it’s wrong or right / And know I can’t be with you tonight / You know my heart is by your side… More photos: / /

  • In 2006, I was in a deep depression, unable to work, I had given up my art work, I thought for good. The Lord being who He is (you know what he is like when he loves you!) Gave me, what I call an “art” word. In which both the image and the poem were created in my spirit simultaneously. This is the only “art” word I have ever received, But what a word. It sustained me with hope and strength to go on! I wrote the poem down that night, but it would be 6 months before I was able to even attempt to draw the vision with which it was conceived with. God is good, and he loves us. (period) Nail Scarred Feet / My steps so new and wobbly, / Uncertain with wavering gait. / Each step unchartered, / Each sway unchecked, / Unsure I stand and wait / “Follow me,” he beckons, / With arms extended wide. / “Ill hold you steadfast and / Guide you in each stride / From the darkest of valleys, / Unto the mountain peaks.” / All the while my spirit soaring / As I stand-upon / His nail scarred feet

  • Artist: Leah Highland / Author: Kira Schenk (my daughter, age 15) Please enjoy this collaboration. We have worked hard putting our minds together on this one. Kira is a kind soul with a very big heart and a great imagination. It has been a pleasure to work with her on this project. / “Hope” / In a world so dark and gloomy, / No sign of ending, no glimpse of freedom, / Never ending agony, a place full of misery, / There is hope! / Let me tell you my friend, / There is a light! / But you must trust me down this secret and desolate path, / To the portal that leads to a divine dwelling. / A place of abundant bliss and endless joy! / Come with me and I will help you in your time of need. / I will escort you to the spot where not many have gone. / It takes courage to travel down this path, / Once looking back, / You will be pleased that you have taken that first step, / That first step to personal growth! / With everything you have endured, / You deserve a superior future, a better way of life! / Welcome! / There is hope! / Written By: Kira Schenk / 1/7/09 / Copyright Notice: / All images are the property of ©Leah Highland and may not be used wholly or in part without the prior written permission by email, including copying, duplicating, manipulating, printing, / publishing (even on a web site), reproducing, storing, or transmitting by any means. /

  • Hope Is the Thing With Feathers Collaboration between Isa Rodriguez and F.A. Moore, / combines similar images created by the artists separately, and at different dates, with no knowledge of the other. The likeness was so uncanny, they simply needed to be married in one piece. The separate elements are Bird Comfort by Rodriguez and Rain-I by Moore. Poem by Emily Dickenson. This work is my variation of the original. Please see F.A. Moore’s original of this collaborative work “here is my Story with this .. I had not felt it was truly mine until I layered it with another photo of mine, actually it is layered with one of my versions of a fractal I had played with a while back , one I loved especially when my cousin, Iris’, whose husband fell in love with it and sort of helped me name it “Twin Twisters. He had never appreciated art before, but started to a bit, while Iris was learning a few ropes on Rb, and spending time looking at photographs and reading the different writings. that original is here / Here are the details of the two images* / Bird Comfort Rain I* / / The way I see this : at the beginning of life, we are divinely cute, potentially everything, love to be seen and hear, clear as a bell, but sometimes dumber than dirt. albeit . sooooo good looking ..we are innocent, we are absorbing, we also love to be heard, and like to experiment and make some big booboos.. profound color, emotions galore, puberty … hot , cold , where do we go , hurt, pain, its bigger than everything .. , everything is important we think, what we say is important , what we are doing is oh so good isnt it ?? then we enter the error of a bit of doubts, and responsibilities, but we do have a style.. we even twirl our words, to make them sound better, and we can bend the rules, and we are working , and we are lonely sometimes, oh , we are so confused… but sometimes a bit content .. but mostly not, we wear our face well, but we see what is there.. and though we perch quite proudly , we feel something is missing.. .. in the middle of our careers, we are not content , but dont know how to stop the crazy machine we are on when we approach our later years, years which we are sure wont last too long.. we are fading in our bodies, but our mind .aaaaaaaah, clear as a bell sometimes , more than ever.. we are content in not being seen so much , but , some people know we have some wisdom .. we dont care what people think of us so much anymore.. we ar perched up higher, for we live to observe more. and listen more ..and also we are aware of the grass on the other side. we are ready more and more to go to the real green grass, our final home, and we wonder allot about the days gone by , and we do worry about some things. but we let things happen more, and not feel we must interfere, we know better, things tend to work out in their own way .. we ache for a young body at times, we feel we have even lost some body parts along the way .. what happened to all of our hair .. what happened to all of our skin tones ?. oh but now those wrinkles on our hands. how beautiful they can be…. aaaah , if people only knew .. how much heartache would they not have to endure. but our voice is low.. people must seek our advice. we wont do the speeches so much anymore , hence the text must be low tones, barely visible except up close lol. you can clearly see what stage I am in with this explanation dont you ?? :))

  • I am here with you / Do you feel me? / I am here with you / Do you see me? / I am here with you / Do you believe in me? I am here with you / In dark night and despair. I am here with you / In sunlight oh so fair. I am here with you / In tears of sorrow. I am here with you / On every new tomorrow. I am here with you / In times of disaster. I am here with you / In days of happiness and laughter. I am here with you / Feel me! / I am here with you / See me! / I am here with you / Believe in me! Words and photograph by me. / Picture taken at Melaten Cemetery, Cologne, Germany. Your guardians from above are always there. / Just trust and believe in them. / You’re never alone.

  • © 2009 Danilo Lejardi / (Mira is a red giant star estimated 200-400 light years away.) I felt so moved when I first read Dead Suns and Dying Stars, the poem by artist Lianne that I couldn´t help but trying to create an image inspired by it. I know a single image cannot express nor the visceral universe of this poem, neither its infinite subtilities, but it´s just my way of trying to deal with my own feelings and to draw things out. / Thanks from the heart, dear Lianne, for feeding our souls with this outstanding inspiration! Here´s the poem by artist Lianne Schneider. Dead Suns and Dying Stars Empty stars devoid of light, / ashen suns devoid of heat / litter the universe frozen, lifeless, / all dead or dying in the cosmos / winking out like houses gone dark. / And I am Mira in her death throes / orbiting the dead, cold core of you / my binary companion, love star whose / nearness once radiated light to me / whose chemistry generated atomic reactions / in my heart and in my superheated core- / the heat of our fusion the physics / of our intimate and co-dependent galaxy. / When your intense desire had cooled / and your inner fuel of love was spent, / your cataclysmic collapse became the trigger / that sent me hurtling through the cosmos / throwing off the light and heat and color / of all I had become in a fiery comet tail / signifying my fall from your grace. / A thousand light years from now / my death will still be emblazoned on the sky / for love dies no more quickly than a star. © Lianne Schneider October 2009
