There was a time when our dreams felt so real / Just out of reach but not too far to feel / Together we’d finally make them come true / ‘Cause anythings possible when I was with you / But they kept on saying we’d never amount to anything…. All of the dreams we built up from the ground / They never believed them they just tore them down / We will rebuild them from the start, we will rebuild them from the heart ‘Cause once all we wanted seemed so far away / But with every step it was closer each day / The more that we tried it was within our grasp / The more that they told us that it wouldn’t last / And everyone said we were crazy for giving up everything…. All of the dreams we built up from the ground / They never believed them they just tore them down / We will rebuild them from the start, we will rebuild them from the heart From the heart / From the heart / From the heart All of the dreams we built up from the ground / They never believed them they just tore them down / We will rebuild them from the start, we will rebuild them from the heart All of the dreams we built up from the ground / They never believed them they just tore them down / We will rebuild them from the start, we will rebuild them from the heart From the heart / From the heart From The Heart – Hoobastank

I had the great honor and privilege of working on this collaboration with dear friend and wonderful photographer, Marion Cullen. Marion’s work has always been a great source of inspiration for me. Her photography not only shows beauty and thought, but also has lots of feeling. / About the artwork: I blended together Marion’s photo, ‘Kindred Soul’ and my ‘Pondering Lion’ fractal. I tried to capture the feeling of Marion’s photo with the activity of my fractal. The end result was this. A pondering lion takes a moment to reflect on the kindred soul that once roamed free. This art work is for all of the animals that are held in captivity. / Title by Marion. :-) Please visit Marion’s Gallery Lumineux / You will always be greeted with a smile. :-) /
I am more / than the sum of these wounds, / though they threaten to engulf me. / Yet sometimes, the wounds seem greater than I, / and they drag me back into / the raw and ragged edges of memory, / where pain casts a dark shadow beside me. / Within me the hands of fate have carved / a well so deep that at times there seems / NO way out, / and I claw the walls with bleeding hands and cry for release. Is this all I am? / Is this the meaning to my existence? / Is this what I came here for? Deep within I hear the whisper that tells me to look, / there IS more. / This self same well that struggles to contain my sorrow and incubate my fears, is the same vessel that would hold all my love, / even all the love of this world, / and emanate an effervescent light of joy from its depths. / Yet I pass through it without realizing I have been a prisoner / of my own choosing. How doggedly we hollow out this well, and fill ourselves with what we know, or think we do, / how blindly we allow it to define who we are, / and sound out the rhythm of our being…. / but as deep as the pain cuts darkly, / and the wound gouges out a hollow so black, / so much deeper is that place within that might burst with love and joy, an empty space resounding with potential / and the promise of healing and truth. / IF only we could realize we are more, / than that which we let overwhelm us. I was walking through the forest and saw a red glow ahead of me in the shadows….. there was a bright red circle on a fallen tree and it drew me to it. I could not believe how bright this red wound was, on this tree, a gaping, raw, bloody hole, and it made me weep inside for all living things. This is the sight, the image, that made me think more about my own woundedness, and perhaps the wounds that we all carry and too often lose ourselves in. /
I had a dream, / A dream so profound / That written words could not express it, / Only tears; / No verbal language could convey it, / Only visions. / This dream spoke in music, it played out in light, / It flickered and danced in emotional tremors / That originated from a source beyond the heart. It manifested within me but not of me / And hovered freely beyond me. / Elusive, I tried to grasp its full meaning, / But could only see it when I closed my eyes, / I could only feel it, when I let it go. / The dream had wings and I felt / The rush of air as it lifted me. We were as we were meant to be – / Released from the heavy chains of our humanity, / Risen above the petty materialism and power struggles / That we once thought defined us. / We had relinquished the ironies of our need for separation from others / That wrestled constantly with our deepest yearning for belonging and unity, / We had softened into our connection with the Earth / And felt her heartbeat as our own, / We had begun to tread more tenderly upon the face of / The one who sustains us, / And remembered again, / To honour the beauty that she held up in her mirror. / Our recognition grew in the knowing that what we saw in our world / Was but a reflection of what we held inside, / Of Who we truly are, / And that the choice between fear and love was our very own, / Not the whim of a distant God. In this moment, we had grown wings, / And through the very lightness of our awakening…. / We had reached beyond our human limitations / And soared free.

Sisters under one big sky and Sun / glowing in the light, two hearts as one Across the miles we may physically be / though our souls entwine, like roots of a tree Petals of light and love, soft as we share / and blow the seeds of hope across the air Hopeful to destinys’ crossing of our paths / to the joys of our meeting one another at last Until time allows, we’ll be content in kind / to share across the miles and seas our like minds As the Moon shines full in the darkness of truth / we’ll revel in her beauty dancing in our youth… tkrosevear 3/10/2009 WindOwl Inspired by all the sisters I have come to know and feel deeply within my heart and soul. I found the following verse while reading a book of poetry by Helen Steiner Rice. It goes so well with this image of Christ that I deleted the original image and reposted this to include the poem. We have God’s Easter promise, so let us seek a goal / That opens up new vistas for man’s eternal soul…. / For our strength and our security lie not in earthly things / But in Christ the Lord, who died for us and rose as / King of kings. © 2009 Danilo Lejardi / (Mira is a red giant star estimated 200-400 light years away.) I felt so moved when I first read Dead Suns and Dying Stars, the poem by artist Lianne that I couldn´t help but trying to create an image inspired by it. I know a single image cannot express nor the visceral universe of this poem, neither its infinite subtilities, but it´s just my way of trying to deal with my own feelings and to draw things out. / Thanks from the heart, dear Lianne, for feeding our souls with this outstanding inspiration! Here´s the poem by artist Lianne Schneider. Dead Suns and Dying Stars Empty stars devoid of light, / ashen suns devoid of heat / litter the universe frozen, lifeless, / all dead or dying in the cosmos / winking out like houses gone dark. / And I am Mira in her death throes / orbiting the dead, cold core of you / my binary companion, love star whose / nearness once radiated light to me / whose chemistry generated atomic reactions / in my heart and in my superheated core- / the heat of our fusion the physics / of our intimate and co-dependent galaxy. / When your intense desire had cooled / and your inner fuel of love was spent, / your cataclysmic collapse became the trigger / that sent me hurtling through the cosmos / throwing off the light and heat and color / of all I had become in a fiery comet tail / signifying my fall from your grace. / A thousand light years from now / my death will still be emblazoned on the sky / for love dies no more quickly than a star. © Lianne Schneider October 2009
