  She was young and innocent..the kind he chose / Skin so soft..cheeks pinched red as a rose / His black eyes stared at her from across a roo…

  When I was in Catholic high school, I had an elderly nun who told me a story / that when she was a young girl she went to a dance and someone asked her / to dance as she was walking to the dance floor she looked down and he had / hooves…knowing he was the devil…she turned away and when she looked / back he disappeared..Of course today I realize it was a metaphor..but then / I took it very seriously and checked out feet all the time…So this poem is / dedicated to sweet Sister Gabrielle..

  oh, little man of anger / little man of defeat / little man with hooves / instead of normal feet / blood thirsty man / who cries inwardly / so …

  This is not my usual style of writing…but in life have come across / a man or two who are really woman-haters … it comes out in their words and actions … and they always manage to use excuses. Don’t get me wrong…I love men…my best friends in the span of my life have been men of honor who truly love women for the beauty of their minds. When I refer to the man in the poem as a little man…it is not meant in the sense of size but in the sense of no morality and how he / compensates for his own inadequacies by demeaning women.
