Ever day we come closer and closer to our own destruction, by over fishing and the poltion we dump into our seas ,oceans . rivers and streams ..This is happening ever were ….all over the world. / Is the end to this our own demise. / In years to come we will think back and tell our grandchildren how we once were able to fish freely any were we liked…. and how we were able to walk on the sandy beaches and pick up shells. / There will be no more fish or animals atall if we keep on our same path. / Unless we change now, we are the beging to our own end.

The Māori people were the original settlers of Aotearoa (New Zealand). Their culture and history is rich and beautiful, and to this day is an important part of New Zealand’s culture. Their legends around the creation of the world and this beautiful land have always captured my imagination. / A Hei Matau is a bone or greenstone depiction of the Hook of Maui. Māori legend holds that the North Island of New Zealand was once a huge fish that was caught by the great mariner Maui using only a woven line and a bone hook. Legend holds that the shape of Hawke Bay is that of the hei matau, which caught in the fish’s side. / For the Māori, the hei matau is taonga (a cultural treasure). It represents not only their land, but also prosperity, fertility and safe passage over water. They also denote the importance of fishing to Māori, and their relationship to Tangaroa, god of the sea. We had a mouse that loved avocado. I set up a few mouse traps and after a couple of nights woke up to hear a lot of crashing an banging in the kitchen. It wasn’t till the next afternoon I found the poor little mouse in my living room with the trap around his head. I felt really bad for using the mouse trap. This picture captures the look the poor little thing had when I found him. If you have a mouse, maybe just hide you food for a few weeks. scotty /
