  • A remote cottage on Bloody Foreland, Co. Donegal, Ireland

  • For many of us, boats hold a special magic; the promise of adventure, freedom or just a good day fishing. This jukong was resting on the shores of Home Island, Cocos Islands. A calm and quite moment, yet I’m sure this boat could tell a tale or two of the sea, the elements and the people it has carried. Home Island, Cocos Islands, Australia

  • Another from my chance encounter with the flock of birds while walking the dogs last week…

  • This picture is about how I felt about finding myself in a place that defys discription. The play of light on this icy little island is contextulized by the tiny ship’s antennae barely visible in the front of the image. Shot with b/w infrared film with a very battered old SLR in a part of the world that seemed to shape shift around me. I could never really find the words to explain what happened to me emotionally when I was faced with such terrifyingly sublime sights. Words are just not adequate to the task of representing what became a search for the faces of the gods I could sense just out of view. Images like this start to come close to that desire. So this picture then is really about the search for the path that will take me home. To the place I want to be in …. in the light…. taking me home….

  • Another ratty Infrared photo shot with a battered old Olympus OM1 while zooming around in a little zodiac in the frozen oceans of the Antarctic Peninsular. Another mysterious something captured in the clear blue sky and found later on the negative. Not going to put in the big rant this time. But I do believe that there are signs of the gods all around us should we choose to just open ourselves to them. Could this be one of them? Who knows but its certinally a strange thing to find hovering about in the sky and I for one am open to alternative explainations of what it may be or might symbolize….....:)

  • This picture was taken on March 8, 2008; a very rainy foggy day in Sambro, NS. This was fitting weather for a small fishing community remembering their five friends, neighbours and family members lost at sea 20 years ago. On March 8th, 1988 the fishing boat “Bonnie Lou II” was lost at sea and the five fisherman on board were never found. Had the men survived the storm the sight of this lighthouse, which stands at the entrance to Sambro, would have welcomed them home.

  • Fresh work…had a dreamy mood and this one appeared in front of me on the screen :) Hope you like it :) I also decided to make this work my submission to LIVE LOVE DREAM CONTEST NUMBER 4. It really was inspired by my present hometown Groningen which is very bright and beautiful Dutch city that I admire. You are all welcome here!!!

His reflection…. one of solid presence projecting strength balance care space truth…..holder of HOME. Like I said, he WAS for me to see these qualities in myself. Now I can thank him. It has taken me some time….. From his heart flowers emerge to greet meet so sweet …from his head hand reaches to stars….is he from mars…..since he spoke so often of the wars….of the sexes….mind vexes….or maybe it’s ‘cause I’m from Texas? The distance definitely sweetens this dream…...

  • The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk is a carrier-capable ground-attack aircraft designed for the United States Navy and U.S. Marine Corps. The delta winged, single turbojet-engined Skyhawk was designed and produced by Douglas Aircraft Company, and later McDonnell Douglas. It was originally designated the A4D under the US Navy’s pre-1962 designation system. Fifty years after the aircraft’s first flight, and having played key roles in the Vietnam War, the Falklands War, and the Yom Kippur War, a few of the nearly 3,000 Skyhawks produced remain in service with several air arms around the world, including active duty on the aircraft carrier of the Brazilian Navy / (Wikipedia) Best viewed large This is a 3D Digital image. • “And when the day arrives I’ll become the sky and I’ll become the sea and the sea will come to kiss me for I am going home. Nothing can stop me now.”’ Trent Reznor This image is a tribute to an old friend, Hilton Matthews, who so sadly died earlier this year. It is a gift for his wife, and my closest friend, Sarah. Hilton was a well known sailor on the Isle of Wight, and was one of the true characters of the Fishbourne Sailing Club. He weathered many storms during his life. He would have loved this one! The boat in the image is one which Hilton helped rescue when it ran aground on the rocks. The sky and the seas have been painted, using a variety of brushes in Photoshop CS4.
