Reflective, calm and peaceful. A walk through Adelaide on a balmy summer’s evening along the Torrens, looking at public art and feeling completely at home. To have a camera there to capture a small portion of that feeling and take it home is what it is all about. / Talking Our Way Home sculpture by Shaun Kirby

The Auckland metropolitan area or Greater Auckland, in the North Island of New Zealand, is the largest urban area of the country. It is also New Zealand’s most populous city with approximately 1.3 million residents, over a quarter of the country’s population, and demographic trends indicate that it will continue growing faster than the rest of the country. Auckland also has the largest Polynesian population of any city in the world.Auckland lies between the Hauraki Gulf of the Pacific Ocean to the east, the low Hunua Ranges to the south-east, the Manukau Harbour to the south-west, and the Waitakere Ranges and smaller ranges to the west and north-west. The central part of the urban area occupies a narrow isthmus between the Manukau Harbour on the Tasman Sea and the Waitemata Harbour on the Pacific Ocean. It is one of the few cities in the world to have harbours on two separate major bodies of water.(Wikipedia.org)
This is the bear which Udon(my chow chow puppy) is passionately in love with right now….Estella is her name. Udon will smile his brightest smile whenever he sees Estella and wants to play with her(or tear her apart, not too sure)...I have to keep her in high places just in case :D / /
This home never fails to capture my heart. It is in Hana, Maui, and I often purchase bananas from a small table set up out front. As Maui continues to grow and over-populate, I feel sad that we are losing beautiful plantation-era homes like this one—to be replaced by multi-million dollar villas (who’s owners will not need to sell their bananas).

This is little Melanie, well little… she’s not so little anymore, but still the littlest (is that a good word?) of them all at our home.. / Here she was sleeping on a pillow in the couch. / She mostly sleeps like this, with her head in a weird position, resting on her shoulders :-)
I went to Montreal on a photo walk with my sister a few days ago. We took the subway to get there, and had loads of fun shooting everything we found interesting. I have a Nikon D60 without a telephoto lens besides the standard 18-55mm that came with it. Making candid shots without people seeing me is always a challenge, and I feel very uncomfortable when they do realize that I took their picture. When that’s the case, I often try the dazzling smile method and it usually works; they smile back. Pity that I don’t have dimples… That’s why I started to try refining my up-to-now-unexistent-skills for shooting at waist level, without looking into the viewfinder. If my subjects don’t see the blinking autofocus assist illuminator, I’m out of trouble. This shot was made in a moving subway, on our way back. I was sitting at a 90° angle from the man, a little over 3 meters away (9-10 ft). I had my camera bag on knees and my left arm resting on the bag. My camera was still around my neck so I just positioned it unobstrusively, so that the lens rested on my forearm, pointing in the general direction of my subject. I used my remote to trigger the shutter, and hoped for the best. I made a few shots, but it’s only once I got home that I found out that this one had come out very good. I changed the RAW file to black and white in DxO Optics Pro before converting to JPG, and that’s all that was done to it. Otherwise completely AS IS Focal length 55mm / ISO-1600 / Aperture f/5,6 / Shutter 1/10 sec. All he possesses is the hand-pushed cart, a pair of torn out sandals, a sheet to sleep on and a piece of cloth to sleep under. But he seems to be happiest of them all, as he can still sleep the soundest sleep.
