  • acrylic on canvas END OF DAYS Red sky in the morning, you’ve had your warning / the wolves are running, the end is coming See the white bird flying, he’s got a heart just like a lion / see the sun descending, on a world that fears an ending See the snake a creeping, as the children are a sleeping / there’s a tower in the middle, it’s built of death and lies and riddles Only love can set you free Sheep rushing to the fold, a remnant neither bought nor sold / a single shepherd on a rock, face all the nations for his flock see the light in motion, hits the earth just like an ocean / soon the sky unravels, stars fall down like so much gravel Look away from all your idols, this cursed earth is suicidal / lift your eyes up to the sky, see the heavens, see the heavens eye to eye only love can set you free

  • To me religion shoulden’t be about big, showey buildings and being preached too.I prefer a more natural approach ””The Kingdom of Heaven is inside you and all around you Split a piece of wood, and I am there Lift a stone and there you will find me” (interior shot at St,Conan’s Kirk on the shores of Loch Awe, Scotland)

  • My life changed when I met him. I did not expect to even get close, but when my friend, Pema called to me one day,”’Linaji, Linaji, you must come with me!” I tuned to her from my dishes I was washing and said as usual, “Oh Pema, what now”? She was always grabbing my arm to show me something, a bug or a snake or some kind of amazing event that for me seemed rather on the mundane. I was in a dream state dish mode and wanted to get my job done. “Linaji, His Holiness is coming to give private audience to all the new monks, nuns and many new Tibetans coming over the mountain, you must be coming with me, you must”! / How could I say no? So I grabbed my skirt and threw on a top and we ran and ran and ran, I wanted this meeting. I had lived in Dharmsala already one time before this visit and I was wishing one day to meet him. Pema is a Nun and she is a beauty. She was beholden to me as one day the owner of our lodgings came to her door drunk and tried to push his way in. When she told me this, I hate to say it but I went rather Maa Kaali on him. Which means crazy. And I insisted she not pay rent for one month. He was smaller than me and when I am angry, I do believe I am possessed by a spirit like Maa Kaali. / We arrived and we were told that anything we wanted blessed by His Holiness we would put on the table. I did not do this. I wanted the Dali Lama to touch my malas, I had two, one was for my brother. / As it turned out, I was in the middle of the line after he talked for a while to all the monks and nuns and travelers from Tibet. When it was my turn to shake his hand, I tenderly reached for his with Mala’s in ready, and put his hand to my forehead. I looked into his eyes and saw a light so free and kind that I felt indeed blessed by the sun. One is not suppose to look into his eyes but I could not help myself. His kindness and his warmth took me. I knew he forgave me instantly if I had done anything to offend him or the ways of propriety. / He is all that is said of him. I have never seen eyes that shone like the essence of a smile. I gave my brother this gift of these beads. Lord Ganesh has them on my desk and sometimes I use them to meditate and chant. I am trying to write more every day, so I thought you all would enjoy this most auspicious time in my life.

  • In Hinduism, sadhu is a common term for a mystic,an ascetic, practitioner of yoga (yogi) and/or wandering monks. The sadhu is solely dedicated to achieving the fourth and final Hindu goal of life, moksha (liberation), through meditation and contemplation. Sadhu is usually referred to as “Baba” by common people. The word ‘baba’ also means father, or uncle, in many Indian languages. Sometimes the respectful suffix ‘ji’ may also be added after baba, to give greater respect to the renunciate. Sadhus often wear ochre-colored clothing, symbolizing renunciation. There are 4 or 5 million Sadhus in India today and they are still widely respected: revered for their holiness.Sadhus are not unified in their practices. Some live in the mountains alone for years at a time, eating only a few bananas. Others walk around with one hand in the air for decades. Still others partake in the religious consumption of charas (hand-made cannabis hashish) and contemplate the cosmic nature and presence of God in the smoke patterns. Sadhus engage in a wide variety of religious practices. Some practice extreme asceticism while others mainly focus on praying, chanting or meditating.

  • Top Ten in “Sunday Morning” challenge in Mood & Ambience October 18, 2009. / Featured in Live and Let Live September 22, 2009. / Featured in ! # 1 Artists of RedBubble! September 22, 2009. Best seen on full size This sweet little church, at the corner of Triadelphia and Sharp Roads in Glenelg, Maryland, stands empty. Probably built around 1900, it was most recently used as the home and studio of a local artist who has since gone to live in the sunnier climate of Mexico. Happily, the congregation of this beautiful little chapel didn’t die out, as so often happens, but instead grew too large for this structure and built a much larger church not far down the road. I was quite excited to have the opportunity to tour here July 26, 2009 when the realtor was holding an open house, as I’d driven past many times and had always wanted to investigate!! Image taken with the handheld Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens, shutter 1/250, aperture f/8.0, exp -.33, iso 500. Post work included hdr from 4 images at +3, +1, 0 and -2 evals … all duplicated and adjusted in Photoshop. Subsequent Orton technique was applied in PS, as were three textures at various blendings, and the brushed-in clouds. Included below is a capture of one of the windows in which, if you look carefully, you can see a reflection of the church bell … / which was directly behind me as I shot the window … My thanks to Princess of Shadows on Deviant Art and Ghostbones of Flickr for the great textures and to Obsidian Dawn for the cloud brushes.

  • Sacre Coeur, Paris. The amazingly original basilica is located in Montmartre, leading to the highest point of Paris city. First constructed in 1875, it was not completed until 1914, due to a problematic law system that almost stopped construction entirely. Only saved by a loophole, construction finally continued to the end. I didn’t get to spend as much time here as I would normally like to, but the climb to the top of the tower was worth it for the incredible view of the city below. Original shot layered twice, with 3 textures, colour altering of each layer, blending of layers, further colour altering and an omni light effect.
