A Summer landscape in Holland
-
Kinderdijk is now a world heritage site south of Rotterdam, this is my most favourite place from my travels to date. I have been there during all weathers and seasons and it very seldom appears the same on consecutive visits due to the weather. My one regret is not getting to skate on the canals around the windmills, winters were never cold enough during my time in Holland. This is a mid summer twilight shot taken at 22.30pm local time after which I had a 1.5 hour drive home and up at 4.45am to be in work for 5.30 am the next morning, what one does to take a photo!! Het mooieste plaats in de wereld vor mij!!

This is another image taken on the same day as the other Kinderdijk Postcard. I really liked the way yesterday’s turned out, so I decided to work on another one today. I hope you like it!

I created this image this afternoon in attempt to combat a bout of the blahs and a lack of inspiration. Because I really liked how my last Forgotten Postcard worked out, I thought I’d try to continue the series. This image was taken back in February, on a grey day, at Kinderdijk in the Netherlands. The windmills of Kinderdijk are one of the best known Dutch tourist sites. They were placed on the list of UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1997. Like me, the original image needed a bit of perking up. I hope you like the results.

...but the dunes will never be. This picture is taken in the end of december. There was a nice sunny sky. You see the beach of Joosesweg. I really love the dunes and the leading curve which the path gives the picture.

/ Zaanse Schans / Since the 16th century there were mills built in the Zaan area using wind and water for several usage. Nowadays there are only 13 mills left in the Zaan area, with 5 of them in Zaanse Schans, from the original 1000. That’s how this area became the first industrial area in Europe. The mill on this photo is called: “The Crowned Poelenburg”, and in the background you can see a bit of the next one: “The Cat”.
